Something special about watching a big inland trout crush a spinner at your feet. Haven’t been doing much trout fishing this summer, but this was a highlight of my season. Hope you fellow trout bums had a good year in the streams!

The best 48 hours of public land turkey hunting I’ve ever experienced. Birds were hammering day in and day out. Multiple opportunities on multiple long beards each day! Blessed to share the woods with these magnificent birds, an afternoon that won’t be forgotten! #doubledown

This fall has been one of my most successful in terms of catching Walleye and Sauger, and learning more about how to fish dams on river systems is a big reason for that. ⬇️

Fishing my baits WITH the current has been much more effective than casting and pulling them AGAINST it. This is both because small fish tend to get pushed around by the heavy current that dams push out, so your bait will look more natural to Walleye, and because your bait will cover water faster if you aren’t fighting the current pulling your bait backward.

Rapala Rippin’ Raps are my go-to bait when fishing in heavy current areas up near the dams, as they imitate the small fish that Walleye feed on. They also fall to the bottom fast after casting them out so I can effectively fish both shallow and deep water with the same lure.

What a trip! The Walleye fishing continues to be incredible on the river, and this time it wasn’t just me who wanted in on the action! @jackson.baumgart and @sullivanjds2169 were nice enough to have me along in the boat this time around. We had a blast catching Walleye and Saugers almost every cast for most of the evening, on a mix of @rapalausa Rippin’ Raps and hair jigs that @jackson.baumgart tied from a buck he got in his latest deer hunting trip. As fun as my kayak is, it sure was nice to be in a boat for a few hours and catch fish with these two!

It’s a bad day to be a Crappie when @jacksonbaumgart is on the river.
