Birds and Flags are the colors of the skies

To look at birds and be in wonder
They remind us to focus on what is important,
Nectar and Family.

The Eagle and the Condor
The Hummingbird and the Yellow Rumped Warblers

Territory is important for the birds
But, sometimes they flock together,

The Eagle and the Condor
The Hummingbirds and the Yellow Rumped Warblers

It’s time to go South into our Hearts,
Grind Corn, Share Meals, Come together

at the end of the day if we have survived
take in the nectar and be together.

This is a painting of “Rico’s Neives” painted of the street in Tepoztlán, Morales, Mexico during the honoring of Dia De Los Muertos.

Years ago @jacobjosephnorris came up with the concept of “Birth is Now”. He observed through the process of pregnancy, relationship, child rearing and life, that the work we do each day together in the present moments of growing together is the foundational work of birth. Birth doesn’t just happen in labor, it happens in the everyday moments and meditations of connection, listening, cooking, nourishing, loving, and doing dishes and laundry.
Thus, I am now proclaiming that “Menopause is Now”. There is no Perimenopause. Metamorphosis happens over time, in small increments, that aren’t always noticeable. Sometimes bigger changes occur that are noticable, but both are equally important work and experiences. There is no Peri metamorphosis, Catapillars go into the Cacoon. They turn into green goo. They start to take form, they go back to green goo, and on and on, until they are the butterfly.
The Butterfly is important, it inspires us, brings us joy, it is a powerful metaphor, but only because it changed.
This. Here. Now. Is the change. This is it.
For those who are birthing themselves, birthing babies, birthing a project, don’t forget that the process is now, each and every moment of anguish, frustration, piece of grief and beauty is meant to be felt. Birth is Now.
When we are young girls we want to grow up and have breasts and have power, and then when we have it, we are afraid of it.
Menopause is powerful! Each moment of it. You don’t have to have a kundalini hot flash every night to be in menopause, you just have to be aware that who you were must change to grow into who you are to become. And the CHANGE is life and beauty and grief, metamorphosis, MENOPAUSE. Menopause is now. It has never been a prefix.

I am grateful to my teacher @susun_weed for helping to bring me into this awareness years ago.
Her book The New Menopausal years is a must have for every woman 30 years - post menopause.

There are still a few beautiful things left.

Local artists donated paintings, jewelry, ceramics, books, cards, and more for Megan’s fundraiser, and every dollar from these sales goes directly to her.

If you missed the event or just want to do something good today, head to @theworkhouse in Bend to shop what’s left. Out of town? Email or call them, and they’ll take care of you.

It takes a community. Thank you for being part of this one. 🤍

Challenge yourself to write poetry each day. A Haiku. Or a one liner even. Don’t let the ease of artificial things erase the mess that your soul can be each day. Your mess is beautiful. Unleash it.

Paint your own pictures.
Don’t let the culture of you disappear by thinking you need to be like everyone else.

Don’t forget you have a heart, don’t forget the sound of it beating.

Turn yourself upside down if you have to.
Be patient.
Don’t race.
Let your soul catch up.

Look how far you’ve come
Heart open, the sky breathing
And now you are here.

What is the style of Jake’s art? People debate this. Impressionism? Abstract Realism, is that even a documented style? There are many techniques, how do you define it as one thing?
I (his lover, his muse) call it Spirit Art, Soul Art.
Jake sees the spirit and soul of a bird or the land, they breath, they vibrate, they are alive, just as we humans are Nature, the nature that we see outside of ourselves has consciousness, we are all in communication and in relationship. The way we Nourish the land is a reflection of our we nourish ourselves.

What does Mexico have to do with this?
I invited Jake to Mexico, to travel with me when I went to join “The Voices of the Grandmothers of the Americas.”
13 grandmothers from North America and South America joined together in Tepoztlán Mexico (The Center of the Americas, where Eagle and Condor fly together) to honor the prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor. The prophecy is a call to action to change our hearts and love the land, to reflect on what it is to be human, reflect on the need for spiritual behavior, and to unite in love and raise the love of humanity for our Sacred Mother Earth.
It begins with each of us.
The Condor represents the path of the Heart, intuition, Yin. The Eagle represents the path of the mind, the industrial, Yang. The Condor is an endangered species, just as the connection to our hearts, our spirituality with nature, and the indigenous cultures that live with the spiritual connection to the Earth have diminished. We are nature. We are the Earth. Without our great Mother Earth 🌎 and her resources, we cannot continue to exist. If we ignore her, over use her, take her for granted, she won’t have anything left for us. If we Nourish her, Replenish her, give her love and appreciation and gratitude she replenishes herself.
The cultures and spiritual practices that are centered in the heart live in Southern and Central Americas. The indigenous practices of spiritual connection to the Mother continue their Heartbeat there.
This energy flows through these paintings, reminding us all to protect the ways that are a part of our very nature. Nourish these cultures, Nourish Yourself.
