Working on a few (big)projects at once can sometimes feel a little too much. Then comes that moment when you just know, it's time to pause, breathe, and take a day (or two) to reset.

Espero que o próximo ano seja de novos aprendizados sobre café e que eu prove novas torrefações e conheça novos produtores.

As the year comes to an end, I’m so happy with all the coffees I tried in 2024 and the new roasters I discovered.

This year, I tried 53 new coffees! 22 were from roasters in Canada, 18 were from Brazil, 5 were from the US, 7 were from Portugal, and one was from Spain.

My favorite coffee this year was the one from @ineffablecoffee from Spain.

Some of my favorite roasters this year were @moxiecoffeeco, @seycoffee , @javaroastersca , @senzucoffeeroasters, @holmcoffeecompany and @oop.cafe.

This year I also participated for the first time in the game from @leaderboardcoffee.

And you, how was your year in coffee? Tried new roasters, and met new producers?

I hope that the next year will be full of new knowledge about coffee and that I get to try new roasters and discover new producers.

A lot of coffee to us all!

Just some of the coffee from 2024. Got on board the @halecoffee bandwagon this year and they had a great contender with their Guatemala Waykan but nothing could beat @pilotcoffee and the crowd favourite Ana Sora. Winner winner.

This is a medium espresso roast using a washed bourbon, produced by the El Borbollon / Alvarez family in Apanacea, El Salvador and roasted by @javaroastersca in Toronto, Canada.

Java Roasters has a special place in my heart, as they were the first single origin espresso I was served at a former shop @nava.social when I started getting into coffee. I also benefitted a lot from Kayla Pest @coffeesensorypro’s coaching video on varietals during my seasons in Leaderboard as she had won the 2020 Canadian Taster’s Cup. Kayla and Leah always used to write enjoyable cards every time I ordered in the past and I am inspired now more than ever to try for Taster’s in 2025.

They are also a roastery run on girl power and have so much passion to empower female producers, which is also a joy to see in my heart.

This coffee was extracted about 3.5 weeks post roast. I haven’t had El Salvador in a while but this was very good. As a milk drink, I can only describe it as super buttery, creamy and perfectly paired with caramelized flavours and milk chocolate. A classic “traditional” spro I’ve had this year with great balance. The straight black spro was also enjoyable on its own with a good balance of fruit notes and dark chocolate.

Very delicious and a good crowd pleaser.
