There’s no one-size-fits-all career path in veterinary medicine. 🩺

At WVC Nashville, Dr. Ashley Hopkins, The Career Coach Vet, sat down with Kelly from @missionpethealth 🐾 to talk about finding direction after graduation and choosing a career path that truly fits you.

Kelly’s advice? Do your due diligence, explore the different avenues available to you, and most importantly, make sure you’re choosing a career path that you actually enjoy.

Because veterinary medicine is more than one path. Stay authentic, follow what feels right, and give yourself permission to explore what’s out there.

Veterinary medicine has more career paths than you might think. 🐾✨

At WVC Nashville, Dr. Ashley Hopkins, The Career Coach Vet, caught up with Michelle Crews, veterinary technician and entrepreneur behind @the.mobile.vet.tech in Detroit, to talk about building a career beyond the traditional clinic setting.

Michelle is taking vet tech care on the road, providing services within her scope of practice while helping veterinary hospitals free up their teams for more advanced patient care.

Sometimes, you don’t have to find the path. You can create it. 💚

Sometimes your career path starts with what you loved as a kid. 🐾🔬

At WVC Nashville, Dr. Ashley Hopkins, The Career Coach Vet, caught up with Dr. Aleksandra Ascione to hear what brought her into veterinary medicine and what continues to inspire her today.

For Dr. Ascione, it started with a love for science, medicine, and animals, along with plenty of inspiration from her mom, who worked as a lab technician. And yes, she even achieved her childhood dream of wearing clogs… well, Crocs count too! 😂

Today, Dr. Ascione is a veterinarian at Milford Animal Hospital, continuing to turn that early passion into a career in veterinary medicine. 🤎

Your veterinary career doesn’t have to follow a straight line. 🩺✨

At WVC Nashville, Dr. Ashley Hopkins, The Career Coach Vet, sat down with Dr. Elyse Walton to talk about career pivots, finding what works for you, and giving yourself permission to try something different.

After 10–12 years in general practice, Dr. Elyse Walton found herself experiencing burnout and ready for a change. She took a chance on ER and discovered a refreshing new chapter in her career.

Because sometimes the next step in your career starts with simply being willing to take a chance.

Think WVC is only for practice managers and seasoned pros? Think again. 👀

As one of the longest-running veterinary conferences in the world, WVC has something for everyone—from students and new graduates to veterinary technicians and team members at every stage.

From hands-on labs and CE to practical skills, new connections, and a wide range of topics, there are plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and take something valuable back to your practice.
That’s a lot to take away. 💜

You don’t have to figure it all out at once. 💜

Dr. Mary Aboko-Cole reminds us that career pivots can feel scary, especially when the next chapter is unfamiliar. But sometimes the best thing you can do is take the first step, find your people, and keep moving forward.

One step at a time. That’s still progress. ✨
