May memories ✨ iconic photobomb, blooming garden, gala season, garden thief, date nights, girlfriend panels, fundraisers, baking with einkorn (it’s so hard, please share dough tips!), friend celebrations, and snapshots of my favorite people and I in the wild.

one more photo dump from Asia Game Changers Gala… so many reflections and nowhere else to put them. 🖤

we don’t have an event planner. the calls. the follow ups. the tables. the guest lists. the “wait, can we do this?” the last minute changes. the details that nobody sees…. the unwavering support @mckrider carries behind the scenes. @therealkarawang nailing her emcee scripts. @anjaliksharan meticulously driving forward on every detail. this is the quiet work we all do. Board Chair or intern. all equally supporting each other and the mission across unglamorous, all-consuming work — and we efficiently wrapped at 9:15pm!

moments like these where we get to bring exceptional humans together are why I keep saying yes to it. so grateful. so proud. and nowhere near done.

dream team @anjaliksharan @whatnori @leeohnna Board and I are already onto the next! 🪷💕

I needed a moment before writing this.

Serving as Board Chair of @asiasocietyla has always been a joy, and last Sunday, our inaugural Asia Game Changer Awards SoCal — felt like everything we’ve worked toward finally landing in the same room at the same time.

Five honorees we celebrated in the room:

🎨 Takashi Murakami, visionary artist — Art Game Changer, introduced by Michael Govan, Director of @lacma

🎬 KPop Demon Hunters — Entertainment Game Changer, accepted by Academy Award-winning director Maggie Kang @nutmags introduced by Janet Yang, immediate past President of the @theacademy Motion Pictures & Sciences

🎓 Beong-Soo Kim, President of the University of Southern California — Education Game Changer, introduced by David Bohnett, Chairman, David Bohnett Foundation

⚽ Angel City Football Club — National Women’s Soccer League team, Civic Leadership Game Changer, accepted by controlling co-owner Willow Bay alongside players Jun Endo, Kennedy Fuller, Casey Phair, Hina Sugita, Gisele Thompson, and introduced by @lilly Singh, award-winning entertainer, actor, producer, author, gender equality advocate.

💼 Ida Liu, CEO of HSBC Private Bank — AWE Game Changer, introduced by fashion designer Vivienne Tam

My deepest gratitude to @asiasociety’s President and friend, The Honorable Kevin Rudd, who opened our event, @therealkarawang, my Gala partner/emcee/Founder of @amrynwine, to my beloved 🥞 @paravi who shared her music and @grayfagan who went incognito to capture the event.

To my board — you show up every single time. Especially @gloworm33. You all make this possible. 🪷💗

Nothing better as an interviewer than to let an audience see a whole new side to someone they thought they knew. Huge thanks to @gwynethpaltrow for letting us into her investor side with honesty, grace, and humor. And kudos to @allraiseorg, @paigehbuckner for the best #allraisevcsummit yet. #kinshipventures #bbgventures

Making apps: a new kind of show business

And it starts with slop like before:
• Blogs: personal diaries → independent journalists
• YouTube: kids in bedroom → new TV
• Instagram: lunch photos → $24B influencer economy
• TikTok: dancing teens → global $33B shop

Sequoia Capital has unveiled $950 million in new early-stage funds, a $750 million Series A fund and a $200 million seed fund, reaffirming its commitment to backing “outlier founders”. Partner Bogomil Balkansky said the firm’s strategy remains steady through market cycles, focused on identifying and supporting founders at the earliest stages. The launch marks a return to Sequoia’s roots after recent challenges, including its FTX losses and international spin-offs, as it looks to cement its legacy with early bets on startups like Xbow, Traversal, and Reflection AI.

AMOUNT: $950,000,000
