LOVE LANGUAGE ~ A reflection, a love letter to @alixhiggins Resort 2027 ~ An Opening Voluntary

I thought of the line that headed Alix’s opening address “There are only two types of people in the world… - Circus, Britney Spears”. I asked myself, If we are all characters in someone else’s show, how do we make sense of who we are without looking at those we surround ourselves with? Are we not just a sum of parts, and those parts being the things and people that we love? I could not make sense of it for my own identity but whilst observing the perfectly imperfect collection I had a feeling that Alix was making himself accessible in such a way.

Described as a “frenetic collage” by Alix himself, his hallmark printed prose, vivid hues and french trims were harmonised by the collection’s throughline – the emotional heartbeat.

I love fashion, I love music, I love my friends and I love the internet… and we love Alix

In a conversation trail between East and West coast, @shabanaazeez_ connects the independent offerings of Australia with the artistic playground of LA, detailing the movements and motives behind her rising force. She speaks candidly, with a humility that clearly comes very naturally, cutting through the smoke and mirrors of the Hollywood glitz and glam in her pursuit to be ‘messy and real and icky’ – that is, to be human.

Our next exhibition, Impulse, opens this Saturday 23 May from 6–8pm.

The exhibition explores the speed and certainty with which inner convictions are formed, at times challenging these instincts and at others embracing them. Bringing together a range of artists and works, Impulse considers intuition, desire, reaction, and the emotional impulses that shape the way we move through the world.

The exhibition will run until June 7

1) Illustration &
2) little gify animation
for @mellowcontact 📞♣️🎵

Thought to share some little timelapses because it was a fun one and I got to play with my first frame by frame animation eventho it was just 4 frames 🤭

Overall vibe was harsh, slight brutalist but cute hiphoppy. The character is based on Dre’s original mascot drawing (by @joella_studio )which I thought was super fun to adopt to😎

For most part of the animation, I simply traced over the lines in each frame for a sense movement without making any structural changes, except for the jog wheel, pitch slider and the big sparkle where they had full movements for some extra catchiness.

The fingers were drawn with the second & third frame“forward moving”, while the fourth frame reverts back to the same second frame, then back to frame 1 for a perfect loop 🫳🌀

Now thats too many words for an insta post I hope u enjoy it and can’t wait to work another one like this!

Hatchie—aka Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Harriette Pilbeam—continues the rollout of her acclaimed third album, Liquorice, with ‘Carousel’, an album-defining track that captures the emotional tension at the heart of her songwriting. Built on layers of chorus-drenched guitars and a slow, enveloping sense of momentum, ‘Carousel’ explores themes of fixation, longing and emotional suspension that run throughout Liquorice.
