POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When you’re a kid, moments feel like memories even when you’re still living them: The freedom to run, to wander, to explore. To feel like the whole world is yours to discover.

Time slows down, everything feels possible, and even the ordinary feels magical.
The kind of days you wish you could live inside forever.

“The lifelong role of the artist is to learn how to see.”

So too with leaders. The future is not fixed and new possibilities are constantly emerging. Leaders are required to not only to look but to truly see, to be awakened to the unseen and to discern what is real and relevant for our day.

We invited Jon White, the cover artist for this publication, and Chellie Spiller, a researcher and professor who draws on Maãori wisdom and contemporary leadership practice, for a conversation around attuning to our current landscape.

You can read the full conversation in Volume 3: The Way of Leadership.

Illuminaire Volume Three has launched today ✨

I’ve absolutely loved being part of @illuminaireleadership ‘s journey over the past few years and having the opportunity to design all three volumes. It’s always so exciting seeing months of work finally come together in print!

This latest edition explores what it means to lead in an increasingly complex world, bringing together some really interesting research, interviews and stories. We’ve explored the design a little further this time, introducing more colour, layering and illustration.

A massive thank you to Professor Karise Hutchinson @itschrisqueen and @cleo_rigby for trusting me with another volume and for being such a great team to work with!

Special mention to the incredibly talented @vlatko_mitashev for all the amazing photography throughout, alongside the beautiful artwork by artist and friend @jonwhiteart

Really proud to have been part of this one. Here’s to Volume Three 🤍

A special mention also to Philip at @wgbaird_printers - huge thank you!

We’re excited to reveal the cover for Volume Three: The Way of Leadership!

We had the joy of working with Cornwall-based artist and friend of Illuminaire, @jonwhiteart , for the second time to produce the artwork for this volume. Jon beautifully captured the story of The Way of Leadership, and we are delighted that his work wraps the pages of this publication.

‘Mythos is a gestural, intuitive response to a more philosophical and even theological interpretation of the sea. It carries a raw energy that is not neat or complete but invitational - reflective of how we navigate our own stories in an ever-changing world.’
- Jon White

Volume Three: The Way of Leadership launches at the end of September. Preorder is now available on our website.

Lyrical and melodic blessings with @joshualukesmith at the Breakout Tent:

I bless you in the inconveniences of your life, in the inconsolable realities of your life
I bless you to consecrate the desecrated soil
I bless you to have some courage
I bless you to claim the territory of your life once again
I bless you parents in the room, to get home and gather your family in your arms, and raise a glass and look into their eyes and bless them all
I bless those of you in the room who live alone, to know nothing is wasted with God
I bless you to know that reality
I bless you in your questioning, to know something of God’s dwelling with you

Reflecting on the recent gatherings we’ve hosted as Atelier, what a joy each one has been.

From Call to Worship with Ryan Hall to our mini Cornwall Atelier retreat with Pete Davies, Ryan Hall, Jon White, and others, we feel deeply grateful for the intentional time we’ve shared together. Through rhythms of prayer, worship, Scripture, creativity, and community, we have been blessed to seek God alongside one another.

In the words of Mary Oliver, “Attention is the beginning of devotion.” This captures so much of what we hope to cultivate through these spaces: a chance to fix our gaze on the beauty of our Lord through a variety of practices, creative expressions, and spiritual disciplines.

Thank you to everyone who has joined us on the journey so far. We are excited for the upcoming Atelier gatherings at Bethanie in France this summer and look forward to continuing to create spaces where we can encounter God together with attentiveness, wonder, and devotion.

The amazing Daniel Braeutigam shot this video last summer in the prayer room at Bethanie (in Normandie, France) where the song was born :) so special!

We’ve been looking forward to this release day for a long time! This song captures a certain time and place for us in such a special way. The idea was born a couple of summers ago in our favorite little prayer room in Normandie, France, and then our talented friend Mat Ogden lent his amazing skills. It quickly became an anthem of our summer missions, and one of our favorite songs to lead. Based on Psalm 131:2, this song meditates on what it’s like to simply be near the Lord without wanting anything from Him. This is intimacy.

Contributing to our Cornwall day retreat on the 5th June!

We have the wonderful friends of Atelier; Pete Davies who be facilitating a writing workshop, Ryan & Karen Hall leading us in worship, and Jon & Anna White will be hosting and sharing.

We can’t wait for these intimate Atelier rhythms coming up, we’re really excited to see what God does in these spaces.

We still have a couple of spots left for our Cornwall day retreat ✨ Link in bio.

Farther Up

We have been so grateful for this last season of creativity with incredible friends! And one of my dear friends, Kevin Embleton, has been such a gift on this journey. This song came from a chorus we had been singing in the prayer room (FPH) and is a nod to language used by C.S. Lewis and George MacDonald. The farther we journey into the things of God, the closer we get to our beginnings. Praying that in this weekend where we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, we will be reminded of where all of this is heading…and to think it just gets better!

"The glory of art is that it can not only survive change, it can lead it." - Robert Redford

Last week, we were joined by artist @jonwhiteart for a conversation on leadership and art as part of Imagine! Belfast.

Jon led us in a session of 'blackout poetry', an exercise that invited us to redact words from existing text to create something new. It was a powerful reminder of possibility and hope.

We are ever inspired by all that leaders can learn from the world of art and creativity, as we join in the work of leading the emerging future together.

Thank you to everyone who came along! Photos by @vlatko_mitashev
