In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re spotlighting @sam.876_ a survivor whose story is defined not by the battles faced, but by the passion, perseverance, and purpose found along the way. Born in Jamaica, raised in New York, and now rooted in Colorado, Sam 876 is a musician, artist, hat shaper, and creative whose journey is anything but ordinary. After a breast cancer diagnosis, Sam traded the fast pace of city life for the mountains of Colorado, seeking peace, connection, and a new perspective. Along the way, Sam discovered the art of hat shaping, adding another dimension to a creative spirit already fueled by hip-hop, reggae, and R&B. For this episode, Sam and @justin_great came together to create a one-of-a-kind hat that embodies that spirit. Black beaver felt shaped into a classic Western silhouette, accented with gold and silver chains, bold red and black feathers, and a red bandana tying it all together. Every detail a reflection of Sam’s individuality, influences, and unapologetic self-expression. Through life’s highs and lows, Sam’s story reminds us that purpose isn’t always something we find. Sometimes it’s something we create through everything we’ve overcome. A survivor. An artist. An original.

2590 Walnut Street | @justingreatco A new custom hat shop has arrived in RiNo. Justin Great Custom Hats has opened its first brick-and-mortar location, bringing handcrafted Western-inspired headwear and an interactive customization experience to Denver’s River North Art District. Founded by self-taught designer and local entrepreneur Justin Great, the brand blends vintage Americana, Western heritage, and contemporary fashion. Known for his distinctive designs and emphasis on individuality, Great has built a following around hats that combine traditional craftsmanship with personal expression. The new Walnut Street storefront gives customers an opportunity to explore his collection, watch the customization process, and work directly with the designer to create a one-of-a-kind piece. To celebrate the opening, Justin Great is hosting a public grand opening party on Thursday, October 15, from 5 to 9 PM. The evening will feature live country music by Jeff Goodwin & The Front Range Cowboys, food from Chef Dana Rodriguez of Work & Class and Carne, cocktails featuring Stranahan’s, Jose Cuervo, and Dobel Tequila, along with custom hat experiences, giveaways, and raffles. The opening adds another locally driven retail concept to RiNo, a neighborhood that continues to evolve beyond its industrial roots into a destination for independent businesses, creative entrepreneurs, restaurants, and specialty retail.
