POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Here's to a few of the unsung shooter heroes of @thepalomablanco. Their images allow us to relive the weekend for years to come. And many nights as the party rolls on they are hovering over laptops editing away. AI will never replace what they capture and what they add to the event. Thank you @abe.robledo @rareglimpse_photography @jvailphotography @cannaday_ for letting me turn the lens on you and your beautiful cameras. So many other great talents were there that I did not get to capture- Guess we gotta do it all again next year.

National Hunting and Fishing Day (September 26, 2026) recognizes hunters, anglers, and landowners for their contributions to wildlife and conservation.

Game species management is a vital component of our work here at East Foundation. Game species are important ecologically, economically, and culturally, and hunting is an important tool for managing them effectively and sustainably. Decisions about harvest pressure and habitat management, along with variables outside of management control like weather and disease presence, interact to drive the dynamics of wildlife populations. We study these factors at a landscape scale to develop strategies that ensure these populations' long-term sustainability.

We hope you spend the day outdoors connecting with nature and supporting conservation and land stewardship! #EastFoundation #SouthTexas #LandStewardship #Conservation © Jonathan Vail

We have over 217,000 acres of native rangeland across six ranches spanning Jim Hogg, Kenedy, Starr, and Willacy counties. Through ranch management by experiment and adaptation, our team operates an efficient, sustainable production system where healthy rangelands support both livestock production and wildlife populations, maximizing the long-term value of South Texas ranchland. Happy Texas tortoise day! Of the six species in its genus, the Texas tortoise is the smallest and the only one native to our state. We have a healthy Texas tortoise population on our ranches and have conducted research and monitoring of tortoises.

Tortoises are creatures of habit, and their home range (where they live and forage) is just 1 to 6 acres. Because of this, it is important not to move them if you find one. They can become disoriented and travel long distances in an attempt to find their way back, risking their survival. #TexasTortoiseDay #EastFoundation #SouthTexas #Conservation #NativeSpecies @txtortoiseconservationnetwork
