I was recently gifted an accordion from a family friend during my trip out east last week. First thing I noticed was how amazing the bellow sounded all on its own. Immediately start imagining ways to use it on a project I'm currently working on. That treat, Rick!

TouchX runs at @harbourfrontcentre Nov 11-13

Holocaust Education Week

I just completed this powerful book. It was especially poignant for me as our father was in Auschwitz. The book focuses on Camps I (Main) and II (Birkenau) but Maurycy Nosal (Mort Norris in Canada), was in Auschwitz III: Monowitz (also known as Buna the IG Farben chemical factory-still functioning today). The tattoo number on Maurycy's forearm was 142466.

Clearing the floor- Whispers Discothèque

Instead of Throwback Thursday, I’ve decided to say “Thank-You Thursday”, to those who have had a deep influence in my life, but most likely are completely unaware of their impact.

#27 - I’d like to say THANK YOU to Whispers - 1977

After I returned from Israel, my life having been transformed forever (Thank You #18), I encouraged my best friends, Morgan and John, to accompany me to the only Discotheque that we were easily able to sneak into, as we were all underage—Whispers.

In fact, my brother Mickey was 3 1/2 years older than I, and we as looked like twins, I could borrow his photo ID and use it for myself. I also borrowed his other non-photo ID’s: one for Morgan and one for John. YES, we all used Mickey’s ID. We discovered that if we presented the cards clearly and confidently, we were believed and never turned away.

I needed to re-live the moment I “found MYDANCE”. I discovered that I was a bit too wild for conservative Kitchener and soon those I asked to dance, would decline. I eventually stopped asking others to dance and, as a soloist, I began to whirl, jump, roll and finally explode on the floor, eventually clearing it of all dancers. This became a regular “thing”, no matter the club we visited and I would normally fall into this trance once an evening, for one song. IF this happened over TWO songs, it was an INCREDIBLE night, no matter the size of dance floor.

Morgan and John would watch and smile, knowing that this was one of the eventualities of the evening. I found this workout much more beneficial than my wrestling and Judo aerobics training, and after a while, would go out 2 - 4 times a week dancing 4-5 hours/night. By then, I never expected to dance with anyone, and would immediately begin soloing on the floor.

I never drank alcohol (smoked or did drugs), but would support the waiter staff by buying Club Soda and tipping well.

I thank Whispers for allowing me the freedom to express my teenage self, with endless hours of dancing and, unbeknown to myself then, an entranceway into my future career.

“Dance Moves”
Dance is one of the most powerful ways to non-verbally communicate🌷. The power of music to inspire humans to make their own “Dance Moves” is truly magical🌷. Each subtle move expresses a message🌷. Fast or slow, big or small, “Dance Moves” convey a thought, an idea and an emotion🌷. Whether the dance is related to the music or completely separate from the sounds, “Dance Moves” communicate through the human body🌷. Dance is such a euphoric experience, uplifting, energizing and soulful🌷. Each muscle of the dancer moving with purpose and conviction🌷. The flow of the dancer creates a series of beautiful human sculptures🌷. Dancing feeds my soul🌷. It allows me to release everything that might be weighing me down🌷. Dance allows all of those who participate to fly🌷. It is truly a beautiful experience to watch a talented dancer communicate their message🌷. All “Dance Moves” speak to the beauty in the world, to the possibilities and hope of a better place🌷.(T.S.)❤️🌷
