POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

2025 was a year of growth, learning, learning to say no, unexpected friendships, Yee haw🤠, saying goodbye, finding my limits, making cool art, making bad art, figuring out who I want to be, making shit happen, learning what is important, Chicago, ✈️, DC, Iowa, Toby poop, latte art☕️, hugs, reunions, challenges, and most importantly, so so so much love. 🩷

Time for another, I wonder what 2026 has in store.

Today is the first day of the National College Dance Festival in Washington, DC and we couldn’t let it go by without inviting our followers along for some amazing takeovers! We are bringing back three amazing dancers from this year’s conference takeovers to extend into their days at the National Festival!

Day one is brought to you by Katelyn Perez, a graduate student at the University of Iowa! Katelyn is performing in Concert A today and this evening. She holds a BFA from Sam Houston State University. As a performer, researcher, and choreographer, her investigations explore gesture as a method to migrate deeply in our continuously changing bodies to bring to the forefront lived histories to achieve a more conscious understanding of our identities. Her piece “ceaseless” was nominated in 2021 for the South-Central ACDA Conference and she was selected to teach two masterclasses at the 2023 North-Central ACDA Conference. While pursuing her studies, she has performed works by choreographers Joshua Manculich, Alethea Alexander, Danielle Russo, Zena Bibler, and Stephanie Miracle. One of her service projects for the UIowa Dance Department has been as a dramaturg/rehearsal assistant for Danielle Russo’s work “third floor up, second door on the right with the double-pane, south-facing window.” Most recently, she worked alongside Graham 2 Director Virginie Mercene as the rehearsal director for the restaging of Martha Graham’s “Panorama” on over 30 UIowa students.
