A belated post but a very heartfelt and huge THANK YOU to my amazing cast and crew on The Trip! After working to develop @throughtheblindsfilm with my fellow anthology collaborators for so long it was beyond gratifying to finish filming my segment!!!

Even with an RV breakdown, no cell service, night exteriors and a long second day every single person brought their A game and I couldn’t be prouder! I loved our vibe on set and our footage looks and sounds incredible. I’m so pumped that we really achieved the look and feel of 1976 with our period set dressing, props and hair, makeup and wardrobe!

It was super fun to have our @nyfalosangeles alum crew @heatherterz @lumendozae.mov @mert_ali_birer @ahanaclicks and James - they are all hard working, talented and great to be around!

Huge thanks to our segment producer @yuchuancao (also a NYFA alum!), our overall anthology producer @kaywritesstuff and our executive producer @lunadreambuilder for giving me the space, time and support to focus on directing. This is something we as indie filmmakers don’t always get and it was a wonderful gift.

Thanks to my wife @alana31415 and Kay’s wife Celia and daughter Mel for extra support and making it a family affair!

We had amazing HMU with @oasis_nguyen and Lydia on hair and Ruth Torres on makeup! Robert brought it with wardrobe as always.

I loved our department heads so much! @adventure_mav is so talented and poured his heart into every aspect of the art department. Working with DP @aymae was also a great gift. I love her eye, our communication and the way she manages and teaches her crew. Lu was awesome in stepping up when Aymae had to leave. I can never go wrong with @itsashleymaria on sound. Ahana shined as Gaffer and Cole rocked it as key grip! And we never would have made our ambitious days without Heather!

Hugest thanks to my actors @natalie_rousseau @jayjaywarren @armandbcfactor @clairetablizo for bringing these characters who have lived with me so long into their final forms. It was a total joy to work with each of you! Your combined talent is immense and I can’t wait to work with each of you again.

Official BTS and full cast and crew list to follow ❤️💕

Be quick with that camera, that phone call, that email return, that meeting opportunity. When something (or someone!) good comes into your life, you never know how soon it'll walk out again.
.
@harmless_feature was in the planning stage--really more like the dreaming stage--for years. Some years, it didn't look like it would ever get made. But then @pantherpictures @cboxjr @adriansierkowski and @k_oon all lined up in scheduling and desire, and we went for it. The moment came, and the moment passed, and happily, it was in the can.
.
Take the leap. Be ready when the timer starts. You'll find a friend, a project, maybe a lover. You'll find yourself and see your talents rise to the occasion.
.
Believe. I know that sounds like a cat (fox?) poster, but it's true.

AI was only a portion of this. Movement is manipulation of a real photograph of a snow fox. Camera moves and focus pull were done by a real person on an editing suite. Super8 Camera and zoom sounds authentically recorded and added in post. Text and motion done in Photoshop and Premiere.
.
Percentage-wise, a person made this. From our team. Seizing a moment.

Been a really lovely few months. This week I celebrated another year around the sun and, though I am still very much finding my place in this new life, I am grateful for the gifts, warmth, creativity, and community that are finding their way to me. ❤️

So grateful for a truly amazing first day on set for #thetrip - part of #throughtheblindsanthology ❤️ I am so happy at how everyone and everything came together - from our gracious location hosts to our awesome cast and our very hardworking crew! Even in the 93+ heat, everyone kept their spirits up and we did wonderful work!!

This was the first day, and the rest are to be filmed in October. I can’t wait to get back together to see what magic we make again then!!

We’re so excited to report that our anthology feature film THROUGH THE BLINDS has been approved for the CA Film & TV Tax Credit Program!! This is huge for us and we’re grateful to qualify. It was a lot of work, but time well spent and we learned a bunch along the way.

The CA Film & TV Tax Credit Program is working to help bring jobs back to LA. As we know so many people who have been affected by the fires, productions filming out of state and the many issues affecting our industry, it feels good to be able to play a small role in helping regrow our industry to a healthier place.

And we’re super excited to move forward with principal photography this year! We can’t wait to take this next step towards sharing our stories with you!!

If you want to help us make this project, please make a (tax deductible!) donation at the link in our bio!

THROUGH THE BLINDS is an anthology feature film of intimate stories that take place over 7 decades under one roof.

Writers/directors: @destineestewart_creates, @rlouisell, @jessicajliu, @kristinegerolaga, @sylbialin, @luisamnovo, and @tlquachfilms!

Producer: @kaywritesstuff

EP: @lunadreambuilder
