To experience the best part of a marathon, in my opinion, is to not run the marathon. Instead, you need to watch the marathon and cheer on your friends and family. Katherine Switzer once said, 'If you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon'. Running a marathon is ultimately a singular and an individual activity. Granted, someone can pace you on the course, you can certainly follow the training plans that your coaches gave you but the grit and pain that comes with running a marathon is exclusively yours. Cheering for your friends and family on the marathon course is a shared experience that centered itself around joy. Runners from yesterday already told us how excited they were to see us and we were just as excited to see our family coming at us yesterday.

If this pandemic taught us, this crew, anything, we are a group of people who deeply care about one another and have an intense love for this city. Yesterday proved to us that not only we have reached the pinnacle of our presence in this city but also, we have an incredible potential to ourselves to create a tradition that we can proudly call ours. We are truly grateful for the people that love us. Running is what connects us in the beginning but we are constantly being reminded that the love and joy for ourselves is what binds us.

We can't thank Green Lake Running Group (@gosglrg) and Oiselle (@oiselle) (@oisellevolee_wa) enough for their support and willingness to do this with us. But most importantly, thank you every one of you for showing up. You all mean a lot to us. We love you.

One of my goals this year was to do a half marathon every month. February has been super busy, so I was able to squeeze in a 15k last minute! My goal was to run a 11min mile. Today I ran a 10 minute mile. Days like this reminds me why I train so hard. this @hotchocolate15k run is for me to collect my paycheck!

I did a thing last Sunday! BoA Chicago Marathon!

I've taken a week to fully soak it all in and enjoy, to digest and decompress and to gather my thoughts. While I didn't quite make my A Goal, I did achieve my B Goal and it was a massive PR for me!
.
The Recap: I had a very strong first half, aside from it being colder and windier than anticipated, the first half flew by and I had a blast!...then I hit Mile 15. Miles 15-19 were a grind. I lost my groove and started feeling all the tiredness and soreness settle in. Knowing @thisisdizzle and the @3run2 crew would be at Mile 20, I injected what 'life' I had left to get there and @thisisdizzle and @3run2 did the rest to get me going again! Then I kept going knowing full well that @runpartyrepeat would be at Mile 21 and I didn't want her to see how badly I was dying so I forced a smile on my face as best I could and kept going. At Mile 24/25, I heard people yelling my name. Who the hell was yelling my name?! (I was grumpy and angry and so over this marathon by this point). Thank gawd for @jysn_snchz and @kevintieu33 for finding me and pushing me through to the finish! 🙏

My Week In Activities...

Monday: MNM w/ the @run_csrd fam! First time running 4 miles with the MNM ladies.🏃‍♀️
.
Tuesday: 5am Bassline, no picture but it did happen. I have witnesses! 🤣
.
Wednesday: Happiest Hour (aka Rest Day) with some of the most amazing ladies I have been lucky enough to meet and call my friends. .
Thursday: Rest day. 💗
.
Friday: My first ever track workout. Thank gawd for the 90 sec. breaks!
.
Saturday: Good morning Bassline! Probably more lower body workout than I should have engaged in the day before our long run... 🤦 Oh well...
.
Sunday: Last but not least, this week's 8 mile long run along Alki beach. It was a hot one and I probably would not have done it if it weren't for these peeps! .
I'd likely be a squishy couch potato if it weren't for these amazing people who keep me motivated and accountable. It takes one to know one, but we are all crazy! 🤣🤦🤷
