Snippet from “DOGGY STYLE”
Work in progress, 2025-ongoing

One year after the presentation of the first wip, I performed the second work in progress during Amsterdam BANGS Festival, at De Hoek.

In DOGGY STYLE I look back at my experience of growing up as a faggot and queer in my family farm in Central Italy. I focus particularly on the silence as a form of control and subjugation, and on the continuous shift from being an insider to being an outsider in the rural and farm context. The nuclear matter of the piece is a video archive that my dad commissioned in 1997 in the form of a film. This material is a story-portrait of my family’s farm through farm labour, daily farming gestures, and moments of conviviality.
In the performance I use that material as the core of the movement research through selecting such gestures, clipping, embodying and looping them. In doing so, I look for ways to stay in an in-between state in search of noise.

The second presentation builds on the first one, narrowing down its original score to wonder answers to the question “is my urgency for speed, my way to get over my fears?”.

Thank you BANGS and everyone at De Hoek for your kindness.
