Sickle cell pain is often invisible, but that doesn’t make it any less real. Behind every smile may be a battle no one sees, nights filled with pain, and a strength that words cannot explain. Please be kind, believe people when they say they’re hurting, and remember that looking okay doesn’t always mean feeling okay. ❤️‍🩹

Invisible pain deserves visible compassion. 🩸

What happens when you create a space specifically for creators? ❤️💛💚

While working on creator partnerships for Jerk & Jollof Festival, we wanted creators to have more than an invitation—they needed a space to connect, create, and enjoy together.

That became the Creator Corner.

We kept it simple: a dedicated table, comfortable seats, games like Ludo and Dominoes, and a space for creators to get food, sit, meet, and take a break from the festival. Watching the table fill with conversations, food, and laughter was the best part. 🥹

For us, creator partnerships aren’t only about attendance or posts; the experience matters too.
A look at the Creator Corner we brought to life for @originaljerkandjollof 2026. 💚💛❤️

Tomorrow I have the pleasure of moderating a panel for Purple City Music Festival called “Meet the Festivals”. In our conversation, we’ll cover everything from how artists get booked to how important social media numbers are to your application, best practices for support materials, and more.

Over the next few months, applications will start opening for summer 2027 festivals, so you don’t want to miss this panel. This conference is FREE. Click the link in my bio to register.

Day Two, Part One at the Prairie Retreat 🤍

The Morning of September 2nd began with The Artivist Network/@artivistnet, connecting our cohort to a wider collective of arts activists tackling systemic change through creative intervention. Eileen Gullion of Flying Lion Cree Consulting held space for optional smudging and a talking circle, grounding the group in reflection.

Then came a run of workshops that pushed us to think, create and speak up. Madelyn Koff of the @OttawaFeministCouncil led a session on placemaking, Simarpreet Kaur Bhangu of @ProjectTherapeía explored the power of art and healing, and Lebene Mawutor of @KELIDZO.co closed things out with storytelling, creative confidence and finding your voice.

So much learning packed into one morning, and we were just getting started.

I am here with @comediantrixx who is also at Jerk and Jollof. This man is just as funny in person and he roasted me for not coming to support his show in Edmonton...Honestly I didn't know about it but check my story for the location and time.

He was only here for the food 😂 a real endorsement for @drksuyaalberta and I did go over and try a sample. Suya is not for the faint and is too heavy for me sometimes in the day.

The sun was hot, lots of people came and I was impressed with the vendors. The caribbean ratio of vendors was decent and I believe @originaljerkandjollof delivered.

We’re honoured to welcome Dr. Ima Anugom, MSF Special Guest, to ADNC’s 3rd Annual Hike ’N’ Snack KeepFit Initiative!

A Nigerian-born physician and Edmonton-based public and global health professional, Dr. Ima has dedicated much of her career to serving communities in some of the world’s most challenging settings.

Her humanitarian work includes responding to cholera, measles, diphtheria, and Marburg virus disease, helping ensure vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities have access to essential healthcare.

Sunday service.

Inside @gospelfestyeg 2026 — where music, food, and community met under one roof.

We came for the story and left with a reminder of JOY! How many ways gospel can sound, move and bring people together.

Well the official mixer for Jerk and Jollof went down and it was nice. There were vendors and we got to try everything. These are some of the vendors that will be at the event happening next week August 29th from 1pm -8pm at the Louise Mckinney Riverfront Park. There will be some judges for food taste testing and sadly I am not one of them 🤣 lol

It is a family friendly event. You can purchase early bird food and drink tickets in advance.

Foodie Edwin was enjoying the food and falvors and will judge these same vendors next week.

If you want to get in on the fun then save the date

Mixer took place in Secord at a private location on August 22, 2026. 4pm -6pm. (Invite only)
