POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Bits of life in london the past couple months while otw to Normandy for band rehearsals & my show at @librairie_ladistillerie on 6.11 !!

Looking forward to combining literature and music on stage for this upcoming show in the beautiful bookstore/venue that is La Distillerie. Been loving doing a deep dive into French autofiction (autobiographical writing with a fictional twist) & finding links with my songwriting practice which I’ll bring up throughout the set…

I’ll be playing with these wonderful musicians: @_sytaxman_ (drums), @peeve.one (bass), @etiennefroidure (guitar) and @marie_jazz_line (violin)

If you happen to find yourself in/around Normandy, call the venue on +33 2 31 65 71 63 to book & come along!

Huge thanks to our jury for their time, attention, and care in making this a genuinely independent selection:

Thank you, Southbank. 🤍✨

Our Queen Elizabeth Hall debut was something we will not forget. Singing the voices of the trobairitz in that room, with your close listening and big cheers, was a joy.

We also loved that cathedral-like resonance. Huge thanks to @tonydbirch, inventor of the Concrete Voids system, for shaping an acoustic space within which we could feel at home.

In this programme, we shared trobairitz classics, new contrafacta, a previously unrecorded Old Roman chant, and female-perspective motets, set within a wider Mediterranean story, spanning Armenian, Greek, Corsican, Syriac and Algerian traditions.

Thank you @southbankcentre for having us, and thank you for filling the room with such warmth. 🤲
