We’ve had a flurry of new followers this summer so what better way to introduce ourselves than this cute snap by @finn - unfortunately it’s missing our smallest, but a full team shot really is a rare thing!
We are Willo & Lex, owners of Village Circus, we love creating mass silliness at festivals and any other place people will have us! We run The Club House and Playing Fields at Wilderness, and the Shambolympics at Shambala. Half our year consists of hopping from one event to another in our big blue Mercedes 814 camper, bringing games, performance, decor, canopies etc to a variety of places. The winter is for prepping, small builds and illustration (@lexillustration). We have three lively children, a beloved dog called Luna, and two chickens named Seb and Mbappe.
We both care a lot about doing things well, and beautifully, with the planet in mind, and we place a lot of importance on human connection. Lockdown really highlighted to us the importance of allowing people space to connect and play. We try to nourish our back of house spaces as much as the front, as our team work really hard and we love them! Over the years we have grown what feels like a festival family, that our children take great pride in being a part of, and we feel very grateful to be able to hold space for.
That’s us in a nutshell- who are you lot?!!

I finally got a moment to make a new letter in my alphabet series- two of my boys have two of the letter ‘a’ in their name, so here you can take a peep at our new Alcon Blue Butterfly!
I love how differently all the names I’ve done so far align- some bounce happily around, and others more streamlined, it all depends on how the animals with each letter sit together.
Name prints start at £35 for an A3 print, a little bit more for longer names.

You may have noticed the sterling work @rosannaprints has done in organising a raffle to raise funds destined for the organisation Medical Aid for Palestinians (www.map.org.uk). This is a U.K.-based charity, working to provide urgent medical assistance on the ground in a region where hospitals and medical care are on the brink of collapse. The situation is ongoing, and dire.
.
I’ve donated a copy of “Celestial Bodies” to this raffle, and you have until Sat 11th to buy a ticket (£5) and be in with a chance of winning this, or one of 30+ other prints from some excellent U.K. and international artists - I’ve included as many as I can in the gallery and I’ve put the raffle link in my biog.
.
I fully understand that this is a nuanced and emotive conflict, with a long and bloody history. People I follow, and who follow me, are directly affected. I hope it doesn’t need saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that I in NO WAY condone or support the terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas against innocent Israeli citizens on the 7th October. I was as horrified as the rest of the world at the atrocities wreaked that day, the kidnappings and the countless lives lost. All of it. I am equally horrified at the fate of all the civilians caught up in the crossfire since, on both sides of the border. The vast majority are ordinary people trying to live normal lives, with families to feed, kids to educate, babies to birth, elderly and sick people to care for. All are at the mercy of those who lead them.
.
The conflict shows no sign of easing, and so all that those of us watching from afar can do is try to send help where we can. That help will not be perfect - aid organisations rarely are. Politics gets in the way of saving lives.
.
Not everyone will agree with the work of this charity and that’s ok - there are many others. The important thing is that real-world help gets through somehow, on both sides.
.
To support to the Israeli victims of the Hamas attack on the 7th of October please also consider donating to emergency medical organisations such as Hatzalah (https://israelrescue.org/donate/) or Magen David Adom (https://mdauk.org/donate/).
.
Love to all.

🔍Kids, Eliza needs your help to find her dog, Moss!

If you’re looking for an activity to do with the kids for the last weekend of the holidays (and beyond), then take them on a short walking trail through Hay and along the Bailey River Footpath.

🐾Help Eliza find her little lost dog, using the map to find your way and following the story to learn about the history of Hay. There are little white dogs for you to find along the route to help you.

Walk takes approx 45-60 mins. Starts and ends at @haycheesemarket, HR3 5AF.

Booklets can be bought for £1 from Hay Tourist Info at the top of the main car park on Oxford Road.

This project was developed by @curlypurce for the @haycheesemarket when it first opened in 2013. Thank you to @ericpugh for the archive photos of Hay and @lexillustration for the artwork.

Let us know how you get on!

Love this shot of the Scavenger Hunt at the Shambolympics, Sardines For Dinner bought a band and a gimp, there followed a very sweet round of an impromptu sing along Shambala song… A very bizarre round indeed 🤣👀
Thank you for the pic @xemmawebster
