Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you weren't looking for. 🏡🥐 After building his pastry career in Houston, appearing on national cooking shows, and gaining experience in New York kitchens, co-founder Van returned home to create something of his own. When an unexpected opportunity to expand into Spring Branch came along, the Lil Koffeteria team saw potential in a neighborhood with room to grow. This isn’t my typical video, but I wanted to shine a light on one of Houston’s most special bakeries. Koffeteria has become a James Beard-recognized destination by blending Cambodian flavors with classic French pastry techniques, creating some of the most unique pastries you’ll find anywhere in Texas. Unfortunately, after a difficult summer that included the FIFA Fan Fest road closures and other unforeseen challenges, they’ve had a rough stretch. I’m not asking you to support them out of sympathy. Support them because they make Houston’s food scene better. Businesses like Koffeteria are part of what makes this city so unique, and they happen to make some absolutely incredible pastries. If you’ve never been, now’s a great time to check them out.
