Gladwell Projects is pleased to announce A Momentary Whole, a solo presentation of new and recent work by Lisu Vega for Platform at The Armory Show 2026.

Titled Passages and Thresholds and curated by Jovanna Venegas, Curator at SculptureCenter, this year’s Platform program brings together large-scale sculptures and installations that reflect the Caribbean’s fluid, entangled reality through shared concerns with movement, water, memory, and material transformation. We are honored to present Vega’s work within Venegas’s timely and deeply considered curatorial framework.

Anchored by the monumental forty-foot installation A Momentary Whole, 2025, the presentation considers memory not as a fixed archive, but as a living material, continuously transformed through labor, movement, and acts of making. Photographic transfers drawn from Vega’s family archive emerge and dissolve across translucent textiles, while branching networks of repurposed rope evoke the root systems of the mango tree planted by her late grandmother in Venezuela.

The installation will be accompanied by a constellation of woven sculptural totems extending Vega’s investigation of ancestry, migration, and collective experience. Together, the works position weaving as an ancestral system of knowledge and a vital language of contemporary sculpture.

@lisuvega appreciation post 🧡

It’s been an honor and a delight to know you, work with you, become family, chacharear endlessly through voice notes, and witness the way you grow worlds. Unmaking and remaking the fibers of memories, through the memory of your hands. You’re a brilliant artist, but it’s your heart that makes knowing you such a gift.

I’m so grateful for the threads wale’kerü has woven between us, and the ties that hold us together 🕷️🪢

South Florida artists keep shining beyond the Florida sunshine! ☀️✨

This past week, we had the opportunity to experience in person the work of six South Florida superstars whose artistic practices are a great example of why Miami and South Florida deserve a place on the contemporary art map, beyond Art Basel and Miami Art Week:

💫 Leo Castañeda @leocastaneda__ is part of the 2026 Whitney Biennial at @whitneymuseum and was selected to create a public art piece as part of The Art of the Game, a World Cup-inspired public art project across NYC and New Jersey. His sculpture is installed at Gansevoort Landing, near the Whitney. The 2026 Whitney Biennial is on view through this Sunday, August 23.

💫 Edison Peñafiel @edisonpenafielstudio is part of Never The Same River at @fordfoundationgallery, curated by @dexterwimberly

💫 Elliott & Erick Jiménez @elliotanderick are also part of Never The Same River at @fordfoundationgallery. The exhibition is on view through December 5, 2026.

💫 Lisu Vega @lisuvega’s solo exhibition Las raíces hablan… El recuerdo susurra is part of Gladwell Projects @gladwellprojects’ ‘Six Artists, Six Floors, Six Solo Exhibitions’ in Jersey City, now extended through this Friday, August 21.

💫 Joel Gaitan @nicanahuac just completed his six-month residency at @madmuseum in NYC, with his last day this past Saturday, August 15.

✨ Not on this post because we didn’t have a chance to visit, but also shining in New York is Diana Eusebio @dianaeusebiostudio, who is currently working in New York as part of the @textilesartcenter community.

Who else from South Florida is showing work in NYC and the surrounding area these days?
