What This Week…

✨Thanks to @etherealdreams.s for tagging me✨

📖What I’m reading:
Still trying to finish Dark Lover by J.R. Ward, I’m in such a reading slump right now 😔

🎥What I’m watching:
It’s Spring in Australia but my heart yearns for Fall/Autumn so I’ve been rewatching a lot of movies or shows like Halloweentown, Practical Magic and Gilmore Girls

🎧What I’m listening to:
Been back in my PTV, MCR, BMTH loving era a lot more lately but I also love Ethel Cain as usual, Pink by PeachPRC, Orbiter by Noah Kahan and the entire Twilight saga soundtrack 😂

✨What I’m looking forward to:
A fucking break honestly, that’d be nice 😂
But honestly Practical Magic 2, Halloween, Friendmas, seeing 5SOS live. Life’s just been a lot lately and I’m trying to focus on the little things that bring me joy and hope for the future 🥰

🍬🫧april & may wrap up 🌱☁️
•
11 books read
favorites: watch me & catalina
•
mini thoughts:
laertes: i was honestly hoping for more from this one. this has been on my tbr for a while because of the dark academia aspect and it just didn’t hit the way i wanted it too, but it wasn’t terrible
•
the age of magical overthinking & cultish: the age of magical overthinking just felt like the author was pulling random intro to psych vocab terms from a hat and then tying stories to them. cultish was a lot easier for me to get invested in while reading, so if you’re planning to read something by amanda montell, maybe start with that one.
•
the romance booksss: the long game, canto contigo, culpa mia, not in love: these all got between 3-4 stars from me, overall enjoyed all of them. my favorite was not in love by ali hazelwood, also very easy to visualize since it takes place in austin lol
•
catalina & the undocumented americans: both discuss the experience of immigrants in the united states and i would say are essential reads. i’ll probably end up re-reading both of these at some point
•
random things i did over the past 2 months:
graduated, turned 25, got a new job (that i start this week), went to foodieland, ate a lot of food in general, watched pride & prejudice in theaters, other things…

🌱☁️ february & march wrap up 🤍☕️
-
i finished 7 books these past two months, so accordingly, i’m behind on my reading goal for the year ahaha 🙃 my favorite was probably “not in my book” recommended by @taylerreads <3 I’m currently in a reading slump, but literally finished it within 2 days
-
also finished buddy reading “the house of the spirits” with @literary.gaby , so excited for the adaptation to come out!!

january wrap up ❄️🤍🫧
•
finished 8 books this month - 3 of them being rereads. I was in a figure skating reading mood earlier this month, so I reread “from lukov with love” 🩵🩵 I also reread “you had me at hola” for a book club, didn’t like it as much this time around, but it was still fun! last reread was a sherlock holmes novel because it’s sherlock holmes & im obsessed
•
my favorite reads this month were “my tender matador” (recommended by @souvlakireads ) and “beartown” (which I finally read bc @literary.gaby keeps posting about it). beartown caught me so off guard - I was trying not to cry listening to the audiobook at work, did NOT expect it to be that sad and realistic 😭🩵
•
overall liked all of the books I picked up this month, I finally got to read “half a soul” because @taylerreads kept recommending it; I would also suggest it to anyone looking for a historical fantasy romance vibe!! “ace of spades” was a perfect january listen for me at work, there was so much going on, I literally couldn’t put it down. lastly, I read “the days of abandonment”. I think i’ll like anything elena ferrante writes, but I will say I was way more obsessed reading “my brilliant friend”.
•
other jan stuff 😌🩵: finally got to watch problemista with @rayannotates and we’ve been watching fantasmas with the same mc. watched wicked again after buying it on apple 😭. after reading adam silvera’s books for the past seven years, I got to see him in person for the first time!! anyways, besides all of this i’ve just been doing work & classes loll
