Next time you’re in Southern Utah, do NOT skip driving the scenic Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway (SR-9). 🚘✨ Passing through the historic 1.1-mile tunnel to get to the Canyon Overlook Trail is pure magic.
🏜️ Utah Local Tip: Skip the summer crowds and the blinding heat! We call Fall through Spring “Desert Season” around here.
When the summer rush clears out, the temperatures drop and all those beautiful, full-sun hikes become perfect. Living here in Hurricane, Utah, we get near-perfect weather for 9 to 10 months out of the year—but “Desert Season” is truly elite. 🧡🥾

📣 Desert season in Utah is officially BACK!! 🏜️ If you are looking for the perfect fall hike near St. George or Hurricane, add the Quail Creek Overlook trail to your bucket list. We were the only people on this lesser known trail, so if you need a break from the Zion crowds - this trail is a great option for incredible 360 views all to yourself! 🤙🏼

⛅️We caught the most perfect 71-degree overcast weather yesterday, and it felt amazing to finally be back in the Hurricane desert without the intense summer heat. We have been chasing high-elevation trails all summer long, but lower-elevation desert adventures are finally calling us home. Full sun hikes are officially back! 🌞

Save this post for your next Southern Utah road trip 🥾✨

Where is your favorite place to hike during desert season? Let me know below! 👇 (As always - please remember to leave no trace)

Take it from me, your Zion Local Guide…

1. Zion is incredible, but navigating crowds, shuttle system, and strict operational zones can be overwhelming for visitors at times. I know exactly when to arrive at the trailhead
bottlenecks to beat the morning rush, how to bypass the standard tourist traps, and where to find the park’s lesser-known viewpoints that most travelers miss entirely.

2. No two groups are the same. Whether guiding a family looking for a leisurely, scenic stroll or a high-energy group seeking an intense bucket-list trek, I tailor every excursion to fit the specific fitness levels and goals of my clients. I take care of all the background details, gear, shuttle, and drive time information so our guests can spend less time worrying about logistics and more time taking in the views.

3. Terrain like The Narrows requires constant awareness of changing weather patterns, flash flood risks, and heat management. Even each singular step requires a technical awareness. My deep familiarity with Southern Utah’s unique sandstone landscape and local microclimates ensures that every decision made on the trail puts client safety and comfort first, providing peace of mind in high-stakes environments.

4. A great hike becomes unforgettable when you understand the land beneath your feet. I bring the canyon to life by sharing the fascinating geological history of how these sheer sandstone walls were formed, alongside stories of the Indigenous peoples and early homesteaders who shaped the region. I don’t just show clients the trail; I connect them to the spirit of Zion.

5. My role as a guide doesn’t end when we leave the trail. Because I know the local area inside and out, I act as a full-service resource for our guests. I consistently provide trusted, insider recommendations for the best places to eat, budget-friendly unique hidden stays in the nearby town of Hurricane, and secondary outdoor adventures companies. @tourzionandbryce 🫶

🇮🇹 Roma, Italy 🍝🍕🇻🇦💘 As a 20 year old female solo traveler seeing Roma for the first time while couchsurfing with a multi generational Italian family in the heart of the city was such an immersive experience. The grandma and mother cooked us 5 course meals daily. Nona always insisted we end each meal with fresh apricots before dessert. Such a beautiful culture, amazing atmosphere, and delicious food. I couldn’t get enough of the cheese and wine.
