A dream weekend inspired by Mr Bourdain

As the year draws to an end, we're taking a wee breath to reflect on the past 12 months.

Much like the rest of the world, we've spent most of our time making it up as we go: sometimes getting it wrong, sometimes getting it right — but always learning.

There are many highlights from the year, but the biggest and most important has been the reception from Edinburgh's runners.

Be that the 10 friends & family (who definitely didn't want to be there) showing up to our first track night, to over 120 runners snaking down Easter Road, it's been amazing.

When we started this whole thing the dream was to build a home for Edinburgh's runners — somewhere to start, somewhere to return to.

What's clear is that a number of amazing clubs, crews and individuals have been doing that long before we showed up, and we're just playing our part in the larger picture of Edinburgh's running scene.

Here's some photos of our favourite moments in 2024. We're excited for more adventures and big dreams in 2025.

Got a 2.47 for Christmas this year

Interval away days.

Yesterday our boy @lukewicker took on the Malaga Marathon - smashing the Interval record with a time of 2:46:47.

We're biased, but we think he looked pretty good in his orange vest - paired nicely with some @soar_running shorts and @near.earth race socks. Congrats Luke.

We're looking forward to seeing who can lower the record for the fastest marathon in an Interval race vest.

JK² 40 IBIZA: SUNSET DRINKS (Night 1) 🌅

Just over a week ago, an incredible array of some of my closest friends & family joined @jo_ki and I for a very special four days in Ibiza, celebrating our 40th birthday. I can’t thank each of them enough for making it one of the most magical and memorable weekends of our lives! ✨

Jord & I use to live and work in San An, so it seemed fitting we kicked off with drinks on the sunset strip. Thanks @nadiarupaalam for these beautiful photos! 📸 And a big thank you to @mr_doris for the tunes 🎧

Another week on the 365 project and the first week of the year where running began to click - I managed a double threshold session on Tuesday (5x6mins at 3:54/km in the am, 12x1min in the pm), some good 1300m reps on Thursday, 8x40sec hills (tough!) on Saturday and an aerobic HM on Sunday at 4:07/km. Maybe this will be a decent spring after all?

Better weather is definitely helping.

Bonus content: slide 8 - Beckett has a science fair at school so we spent some time this weekend seeing if you can run as fast in wellies as you can in trainers; slide 9 - I've been reading a book of Russian folk tales and they're brilliantly bonkers, which inspired this story with its nonsense ending. "Wine flowed down my lips" is a traditional way to finish one of these stories, much in the same way as "they all lived happily ever after" is here.
