Jesus gave me the gift of walking out my faith alongside my wife, my partner, my helper, the one He’s given me to grow closer to Him with. 🙏🏿✝️❤️‍🔥

I first heard the gospel as a kid (like the 2 young ladies), maybe 8–10 years old. I knew Jesus died for my sins and I needed to be reconciled to God. But without discipleship, or any guidance, I drifted. I treated God more like a genie than Lord focusing on what He could do for me, not who He is. (So pious)

I grew up in a church where emotion was called “Spirit.” Tongues with no interpretation, people convulsing on command, music for hours with no Scripture, healings that never seemed to heal, and prophetic words that never bore true fruit. My heart wasn’t submitted, I wanted spiritual hype, not holiness and coveted things outside of Gods will for my life.

“They have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.” – Romans 10:2
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:24

I was still sinning deeply lying, addicted to lust, mistreating women, loving the world and letting things slide without speaking truth. I’d get headaches trying to read the Bible. My vision was so bad I couldn’t see the big “E” on the eye chart. Spiritually and physically, I was blind which the Holy Spirit later made me aware of.

But in 2021, God pruned me showing me how deceived I had been. I repented. I saw the truth that Christ isn’t about emotionalism, He’s about lordship. Holiness. Surrender.

“O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?” – Galatians 3:1
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

I was baptized into a living faith. My peace returned not through performance, but through “obedience.”Yesterday, I got to walk that out beside the woman God gave me to wash and shepherd in the love of Christ.

Friend, examine your faith (2 Cor. 13:5). Jesus said many will say “Lord, Lord” but never knew Him (Matt. 7:21). Don’t settle for hype. Walk in truth. Jesus is the Truth. If you thought you knew me before I may struggle but I’ve been reborn and accepted into the family of faith unto Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!#jesussavesbro

In 2022, God gave me insight into the person He was going to pair me with and in that process, He opened my eyes through reading/studying Psalm 111:1-6. He showed me just how wrong I was in the things I had been wrestling with, especially the pride I had unknowingly placed in my cultural identity. Sad as it is I had forgotten the true meaning that this is His redemptive history. Not “Black” History…
I thank God for the body He has placed me in and the history, strength, and beauty that comes with being who He created me to be as a part of His MANY marvelous works. “Our” story is powerful. And yet…we confuse it for self instead of praise to our Lord in obedience!
I no longer exalt my “Blackness” my culture, my history, the world’s expectations, or the socialization I’ve received as the ruler(s) over my life. Within Black culture, many of us have been taught, directly or indirectly, that our Blackness is supreme and should be exalted ..that it’s what gives us power (melanined skin), purpose, worth, or even a community. But it’s not. Only Jesus Christ is. I surrender all of me to God for His glory alone. My identity is no longer built on skin, sports, status or struggle. I have been born again, and my identity is now rooted in Christ alone. He revealed this to me in a way that gave me chills and spoke it through a woman that had recently came into contact with Him for the first time. “Don’t ever forget my Son again.” HE TOLD ME. He made it so apparent this was the person He called me to be with and I almost ruined my blessing listening to the world, my friends and family that are caught in the trap of Hebrew Israelites..and other self righteous assemblies. 
This truth does not erase my gratitude for this small assembly of history or separate me from God’s love for people. It enhances it. Because now, I walk in His solutions, ones that are heavenly, eternal, and not limited by the broken systems of this world. If you don’t understand still, Praise the Lord and study His Word.
I once declared, “Black is king.”
Now I know, only Jesus Christ is, Hallelujah!!
Don’t hide embrace and honor the Lords glorious work and share with those who have yet seeked Him.

I shouldn’t be here… not in the way I am now, not with the heart I have been given now. But that’s what grace does it rewrites stories.

There was a time when cheating, coveting, lying, and lust were some of the many sins that felt normal to me. It was the pattern I saw, the never ending cycle I was caught in. I didn’t even see how broken I was (dead in my transgressions) because I was too busy comparing myself to the world around me wanting the validation I never realized I was searching for. But Jesus… He stepped into the middle of my mess. He exposed the lies I believed and invited me into a life of truth(John 14:6), purity, and love that doesn’t compromise His ways.

Today I get to share life with a woman who brings me closer to Christ, who shows me what real love looks like ..love that serves, sacrifices, and stands on truth. This marriage is not built on my past or what I grew up learning. It’s built on Christ, who makes all things new(Isaiah 43:19). Thank you for freeing me Lord Jesus and thank you for your favor, lead me to steward and love like you🙏🏿✝️❤️‍🔥!

To my wife: Thank you for your patience, your strength, and your heart that honors Jesus above all else. You are a walking testimony of His goodness in my life. When I gave up and surrendered, you were sent like next day.

To Jesus: thank You for redeeming me. I don’t deserve this life, but You’ve given it anyway. My heart is Yours, and now, so is my marriage.
God thank you for always listening, even when I’m tempted to think you are not. I love you
