FAHMzine 2026: Pinagmulan (Vol. 5, No. 2)

Cover by Mia Tarampi (@mia._tcha)

Filipino American History Month asks us to remember how our community came to be, and to look honestly at what it took to get here. In the first issue of FAHMzine 2026: Pinagmulan, we returned to childhood memories, cultural roots, and the early experiences that shape who we are. In this second issue, we turn outward, toward the present-day realities of immigration and the ways our community shows up for one another.

For many Filipino families, the story of arriving, staying, and building a life in the U.S. is still being written, and it is not always a safe or certain one. This issue speaks to the undocumented experience and the impact of ICE on our communities, while uplifting the organizations working to protect, educate, and support those affected. It also celebrates the many ways Filipino Americans create belonging: through community organizations, local businesses, basketball, and music.

OYFA’s 39th Advocacy Chairs, Lindsay Almonte (@lindsayalmonte) and Lyle Mora (@lyllylcrocodile), reached out to the leaders of organizations working directly with our communities to learn how they are supporting those affected and carrying our roots forward. Alongside their voices, this issue spotlights the culture that keeps us connected, from the businesses that feed us to the music and basketball that bring us together.

A special thank you to our Advocacy Committee, our contributors, and everyone who has supported us at every step. Swipe through to read the full issue!
