An inspiring evening with @maimcsm at Central Saint Martins✨

This evening featured award-winning designer @huishanzhang and Founder of @artouchconsulting Lang Xiao (@langylangypoo ) , who shared thoughtful perspectives on navigating different cultural landscapes — identifying risks, recognising opportunities, and turning cultural differences into meaningful advantage.

At VAEL, we believe creativity thrives through connection — between people, disciplines, cultures and ideas.

We’re proud to support the event with VAEL gifts for attendees 🍵💚

Thank you to the MA Innovation Management cohort at Central Saint Martins for inviting me to speak to their graduating class and share some reflections on entrepreneurship, cultural trends, and building a meaningful professional life. @maimcsm @csm_news

It was a pleasure to spend the evening at the LVMH Theatre alongside my dear friend Huishan Zhang, @huishanzhang a designer whose work I have admired for many years, made even more special by wearing a dress he designed.

Whether we find ourselves living in the culture industry that Adorno and Horkheimer warned us about, or questioning the meaning of work through David Graeber‘s Bullshit Jobs, perhaps the more enduring question remains the same:

What kind of contribution do we hope to make?

Thank you again to Kristy, Jiayi, Jiazheng, Yunfei and Mo-Ling Chui, everyone from MA Innovation Management 2026 for the opportunity, and all the thoughtful conversations. Wishing the graduating cohort curiosity, humility, resilience, and the confidence to keep navigating between disciplines, cultures and identities.

At Central Saint Martins, I had the chance to work on something that fundamentally shifted how I think about innovation.
As part of the LVMH Vision Collider, our team, a collaboration between MA Innovation Management and MBA students, created Regenerative Luxury: a bold rethink of how luxury can be circular, inclusive, and future-facing.

With Team Moët Hennessy, we designed a regenerative bar experience, built around sustainability, community, and belonging.

What happens when identity becomes something you can borrow?
When you can subscribe to confidence, rent charisma, or trade discipline?

The Table imagines a 2050 where the boundaries of the self blur and asks society to confront what remains “authentic.”

Paired with Data Sound, where children’s VR responses become sound, revealing how early we learn agency, ownership, and “self.”

A showcase that turned a table into a meeting point for overlooked voices, hidden narratives, and the softer dimensions of innovation.
