🇫🇷Nice, Race day Recap🏝️

WOW, what a stunning course ✨ This race has to be the highlight of my triathlon journey to date.

🏊‍♀️ The Swim
Firstly, one of the best swims I’ve ever had. Not in terms of time or distance, but just the whole experience. The water was the clearest blue and you could see as far as your eyes would let you, fish, jellyfish, even a swim cap that had come off 😂 I saw it all! And no panicking from me 🙌 The water was so warm it was actually a delight to swim in.

🚴‍♀️ The Bike
It’s not often in a race that you look up and completely forget you’re racing alongside 3,000 other women, but this course was one of those ones. The views were absolutely stunning.

I loved the climb. I’d prepped so well at home and with the week of riding in Mallorca, I felt ready for it and that descent was SO MUCH FUN!

At one point I got so lost in the views that I genuinely forgot I was racing. Then when I remembered, I was just overcome with this huge sense of gratitude. I remember thinking, “How is this my life? How did I get here? How lucky am I to be living my dream?” 🥹

Coming back into town things started to get a little uncomfy and I was definitely looking forward to getting off the bike and out onto the run.

🏃‍♀️ The Run
Well… what a vibe! Firstly, the views from transition were stunning, then running out to a packed crowd, past the #ILoveNice sign and along the promenade was just incredible.

My legs felt SO good and I genuinely loved the run until about the 16km mark, when they started to slow me down a little. It was hot and it was starting to hurt, but I stayed in such a good headspace and just kept going. How could I not? I was in the middle of the best race of my life.

Crossing that finish line, I was relieved, grateful and completely full of emotion.

Did I just do that?! 🥹

I’m so proud of how I executed this race, from all the training and preparation, to my nutrition, the swim, the bike and right through to the run. It all came together on the day.

This course and this whole race week will forever hold such a special place in my heart. I honestly don’t know how I’ll top this one.

Living the dream ✨🫶🌻

One of the best things about 70.3 World Championships is having the Men’s and Women’s races on different days - so @mardic7 got to get out and watch the pro men race on the Sunday in Nice with Hayden Wilde taking out an epic race ahead of Lasse Nygaard Priester, Kristian Blummenfelt and Jelle Geens 🏆

We give our debrief of both the pro men’s and women’s race on Episode 21 of the pod. Available on Apple and Spotify now 💜

Mallorca 🇪🇸☀️

From climbing through the mountains, riding some incredible roads and taking in those views, to the coffee stops, beach days, goats and plenty of laughs along the way……so many highlights.

But getting to experience it all with friends was definitely the best part 🫶🏼 One of those trips we’ll be talking about for years.

The kind of adventure that stays with you long after you have left, a pinch me moment and one I will treasure for years to come 💜

What a week 🤩 there's something totally surreal about meeting up with Aussie pals on the other side of the world for a race, let alone it being the 70.3 World Champs! 🇫🇷 it's been a once in a lifetime experience to share the memories of swimming in the Mediterranean, cycling through the Alps and running along the Promenade des Anglais 🥐 I absolutely got my value for money with this race (IYKYK) and it barely even felt like one 😅

Thanks to Amy for encouraging me to attend the Cairns rolldown ceremony, Em & Kieren for sharing their accommodation, Britt for the on-course high 5s, and last but not least Mardi for creating the incredible @happypace.tri community and bringing us all together 💜💛 well and truly found my Happy Pace!

IRONMAN 70.3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - NICE 🇫🇷
| 6:41:22 |

The most challenging yet rewarding race of my life.

A course that demanded everything physically, mentally and emotionally. The Col de Vence was my worst enemy and best friend. It tested me physically and emptied the tank, but the breathtaking views made every metre of elevation worth it. What a privilege to ride through such a beautiful part of the world ⛰️

I raced my heart out and gave it absolutely everything I had (including all of my blood glucose — thank you to the paramedics for the post-race care 🚑). At the end of the day, I gave myself every chance to be proud, and that’s all I could have ever asked of myself.

To my incredible friends and family, some of who flew to the other side of the world to cheer me on — you were the ultimate support crew and the burst of energy I needed when the going got tough. I am so incredibly grateful to have shared this experience with such a special group of people 🤍

A race I will never forget — À jamais dans le cœur 🇫🇷❤️

Ironman 70.3 World Championships 2026 🇫🇷

If a planned DNF is all I get - I’m pretty damn happy with the rest!!

It was such a beautiful week with friends, sun, sea and a husband who absolutely smashed (literally 🦴) his first WC race, I’m so happy & proud 🥹 !

Ironman 70.3 World Championships 2026🇫🇷

So incredibly proud of myself for this performance considering this goal wasn’t in my sights until June. I’m not going to say my journey here was super easy with balancing shift work and training but it’s not only physical strength the sessions built, it’s mental as well. I needed to pull on that mental strength to keep pushing up the Col de Venice and in the last 7km of the run.

I was somewhat looking forward to the swim as the water temp sitting around 25 degrees and it was so much clearer and flatter than the Cairns swim. The water temp took me back to swimming in the river with Scotty on school holidays and there wasn’t the sudden heart rate spike from jumping into cold water 😂 Seeing the rocks of the beach and small fish disappear as I swam out and reappear as I came back was incredible. One down side of having 3000 women racing on the same day is that the transition area was a leg of the race in itself.

Pretty sure everyone knew the ride was going to be my favourite leg and there was nothing more encouraging than looking down the switch backs of the climb and seeing how far I had already come. I loved the decent more than the climb and I think my times and avg speed shows that 😂 Aside from the speed bumps, cars and lack of three stone arches, I really enjoyed this ride. All of my nutrition went down without an issue and I felt early on that electrolytes were going to play a big part in my day.

Coming out onto the run leg I was feeling pretty good despite effort put in on the bike. The first 14km felt good and seemed to fly by. Around the 16km mark, I started run walking the aid stations due to the heat (this was around 2:00pm) and started chatting to a Canadian who I was chasing down the the last 10km or so and we had a bit of a chat to get us both running again. Most of my runs at work are around the 5km distance so when I had that far to go I knew it was only a few laps of the camp to go. The finishing carpet is always a blur and I never photograph well over the finish line but at least you can see the emotion 😅

One of our favourite parts of the podcast each week is sitting down and debriefing the biggest races in triathlon - from the pro battles and storylines to the age group moments that make us want to sign up on the spot (oops, too late).

We’re now 12 episodes deep and we’re honestly creating the triathlon podcast we’ve always wanted to listen to. One that makes the pro scene feel fun, accessible and relatable for everyday athletes.

Whether you’re chasing your first finish line or glued to the live coverage’s weekends, we love bringing you along for the ride each week.

If you’ve been listening, thank you. And if you’ve been meaning to give us a go, we’d love to have you 💜
