So grateful to have a piece about one of my favorite dance floors in the world in the new issue of @af_ckingmagazine. Still cannot believe it appears in the issue with an original illustration by @ramaduwaji. Thanks to @mariaedimitrova, @haleymlotek, and the rest of the AFM team. Order yours today! Link in bio.

We made an interiors issue, and @theworldofinteriors made Top Shelf, a limited-edition publication dedicated to sex and desire in design. It was only fitting that we hosted a housewarming together. Last week, we celebrated the launch of both issues at Climax Books in London.

And before the party, we did a house swap. In an essay for Top Shelf, our co-editor @mariaedimitrova explores the erotics of renovation, and for AFM Issue 3, Nell Whittaker (@_nell_whittaker_ ) tells the story of how The World of Interiors conceptualizes what an interior should be.

The launch of Issue 2 of AFM was an occasion to admire, pour over, and do a double take at the beautiful work of our contributors.
Thank you to our readers @veryhotmommm, @hannahkgold, @concupiscent_curd, @jazzloon, to @seanlyles for the tunes, to @publicrecordsnyc for hosting us, and to everyone who came to celebrate with us.

It’s National Magazine Day—and we’re taking a moment to shout out a few of our favourite publications and friends.
Earlier this month, @magculture hosted The Return to Print at 53 Scott: an afternoon of talks on how print brings people together, fuels research, and joyfully disrupts algorithmic control.
We loved hearing from Richard Turley (@interviewmag, @civilizationnyc), Lindsay Peoples (@thecut), Jeremy D. Larson (@pitchfork), Steff Yotka (@i_d), Jeppe Ugelvig (@viscose_journal), Daniel Kent (Broadcast), Maria Dimitrova (@af_ckingmagazine !), Annabel-Brady Brown (@metrograph), Nicolas Kemper & Samuel Medina (@nyreviewofarch), and Daniela Rodriguez (@superstarsonlymag)—and meeting so many fellow Mag people and makers. A reminder that making magazines is a labour of love—and we’re in very good company.

Come visit us next week during magCulture Live, a series of conversations with the best of New York magazine makers. The London bookshop’s sixth edition highlights the Return to Print: “From individuals rediscovering their love of the printed page to brands and digital platforms adding print to the channels, you’ll learn why print is moving centre stage again and be inspired by the work on display.”

Join our editor Samuel Medina and publisher Nicolas Kemper alongside Richard Turley (@interviewmag, @civilizationnyc, @heavy_traffic_mag, @offalindustries, @nuts_international), Steff Yotka (@steffyotka, @i_d), Lindsay Peoples (@thecut), Jeppe Ugelvig (@jeppeugelvig, @viscose_journal), Maria Dimitrova (@mariaedimitrova, @af_ckingmagazine, @feeldco), Daniel Rodriguez (@superstarsonlymag), Daniel Kent, and Andrew LeClair (@pioneerworks) for the latest on all aspects of making magazines.

When you’ve watched enough films, it can be hard to distinguish where one ends and another, or indeed your own memories, begin.
⠀
The second e-flux Index section, Twenty Thousand Blinks, brings together reflections on the state of contemporary imagery, from photography to moving image to appropriation art, that respond in part to this condition of graphical oversaturation. Reporting from the 2024 Cannes film festival in a lively two-part essay for e-flux Notes, Pietro Bianchi discerns a notably meta-cinematic tendency to many of the films in the competition. Meanwhile strategies of appropriation and dissimulation appear in reflections on the work of Vija Celmins and Arthur Jafa. Finally, Boris Groys interrogates the claims made for the “accessibility” of digital imagery—asking, “Why is it that these images and not other images are shown to us?”
⠀
Twenty Thousand Blinks features contributions from Pietro Bianchi @pitobianchi , R.H. Lossin @rhlossin, Travis Diehl, Jacques Rancière, Maddie Hampton, Maria Dimitrova @mariaedimitrova, and Boris Groys.
⠀
e-flux Index is available to purchase at e-flux Shop (link in bio) and in select bookstores worldwide. It is distributed by @artmetropole (Canada), @asterism_books (USA), @antennebooks (UK, Europe), @l_pd_r (Europe), @tbs_book_society (East Asia), and @buchhandlungwaltherfranzkoenig (Germany, Austria).
⠀
e-flux Index is edited by George MacBeth @neo_grg, photo-edited by Peter Sitt @sssitdownnn and designed by Remco van Bladel @studio_remcovanbladel, with layout by Sixing Xu @xu6ing.
