@tanzfestwinterthur where hearts love to dance Thank you to everyone who came to dance with us @tanzfestwinterthur this year! So grateful to contribute to this wonderful festival for dancers of all styles, cultures, and communities from around the world. See you next year? Save the date May 19-23! 🤩 We love that Ecstatic Dance is a practice that’s open to everyone, regardless of their dance experience, without choreography, pressure, or expectations. You can come as you are, move as you feel like on that day, and leave in whatever way feels right to you. 📆 You can find our upcoming events in our bio. In July and August, you will find us at Rosengarten Winterthur dancing with headphones! Sunsets loading… 🤩🎧🌻 PS: We generally don’t allow photos and videos during our dances. About 1x/yr, we take photos to share what happens behind our doors, so those who haven’t experienced Ecstatic Dance yet get an idea of the beautiful space we’re creating together (and maybe bust some weird woo woo or esoteric myths 😅). All dancers were informed and were able to opt out, if they didn’t want to be in the footage. De GOMA à Lubumbashi : rien n’est impossible. En 2025, la guerre m’a forcé à quitter Goma. J’ai laissé derrière moi les jeunes que j’encadrais, mes amis, mes projets et tout ce que j’avais construit pendant des années. J’aurais pu abandonner. Mais grâce à des personnes extraordinaires rencontrées sur Internet, j’ai trouvé la force de recommencer à zéro. Au début, nous intervenions dans différents centres et orphelinats, travaillant avec les enfants dans des conditions très difficiles. Aujourd’hui, petit à petit, ce rêve prend forme. @congostreetbreakingart construit son propre espace à Lubumbashi : un lieu où les jeunes et les enfants les plus vulnérables pourront apprendre l’art, développer leurs talents et croire en un avenir meilleur. Cette aventure prouve qu’avec de la détermination, du courage et de la solidarité, même les plus grands obstacles peuvent être transformés en opportunités. Merci à toutes les personnes qui croient en cette vision et qui nous accompagnent depuis le début. 🙏 Si notre mission vous inspire, partagez cette publication pour nous aider à toucher davantage de personnes. @congostreetbreakingart is an organization founded by @bboyjckanane in Congo who create safe spaces for children to dance. They use dance to spread joy, but also as therapy to give them the opportunity to process their pain. Pain from losing their parents, friends, from the war in general, some ending up on the street. The organization also provides food and clothing whenever needed, with the vision to eventually create a shelter for the kids. Part of our compensation from our event at @afropfingstenfestival this Monday will go to this cause, to help them build a new dance space after the one they had got destroyed in the war. This has been a gamechanger for me: Becoming aware of the difference between FRUSTRATION TEARS and SADNESS TEARS. And noticing what happens in my body when I PAUSE, slow down, stretch the tearing up a little (not in a sense of self-control, but of expanding awareness) Noticing what happens when I connect with the STRENGTH in my body that is present when I’m truthful about how I really feel and what I need and want. The strength - that is in all of us, whether we‘re aware of it or not - that helps me to communicate with more clarity, grounded assertiveness and self-ownership. 😮‍💨 ! Somatics is really the key to change patterns our bodies have been playing on repeat. Since childhood? Since much earlier, inhereted by our mothers and fathers for whom it was too scary to express, be themselves? This work asks for our kindness. Our devotion. Our patience. Our resiliency. Our strength. We‘re in the same boat.
