At 88, most people are told to slow down.

Mick is deadlifting 105kg.

MY WHY: It brings me joy.

MY ADVICE: Get out the house and move.

MY GO-TO WORKOUT: Deadlifts. Simple, effective, keeps me strong at 88.

NOT EVERY SESSION GOES TO PLAN! One lift.
That’s all it took to remind me that my old back injury is still there.

I injured it 8 about years ago, and it’s something I have to manage every single day. As soon as I felt it, I knew today wasn’t the day to push through.

Instead of forcing the workout and risking weeks on the sidelines, I changed the plan and focused on movement, recovery and exercises that kept me training.

Sometimes the smartest training isn’t hitting a PB—it’s knowing when to adapt.

For me at 59 it’s all about coming back tomorrow and at this age I’m pretty sure most of us have some sort of issue or injury. It’s not an excuse so we manage it accordingly.

My year long focus is to qualify for the CrossFit Open Quarterfinals in my age group 60 - 64.

Just one session at a time.

Have you ever had/got an injury and have to change and adapt workout.? I’m convinced if I didn’t do some sort of exercise I would be worse off! Im genuinely interested to hear other people’s thoughts. 💙❤️💪
