Two training weeks in Chamonix in the books! 🏔️✨

Arriving here, I felt quite unfit 😅 - my body forgot what it feels like to run in big mountains. The first few runs were a real reality check and tested my patience. But as the miles added up, the legs finally remembered what to do, and by week two, I was actually enjoying every single step out on these trails again.

Running the recce of the CCC route is always such a confidence boost before the big day. Between the spectacular weather, the iconic views, and finally getting that good feeling back in the legs, every tough meter of climbing was so worth it.

Now, the hard training is done. The best reward? Having my family fly in to support me for my fourth time taking on this race. Taking these next few days to soak in these precious moments together before the energy in town turns up.

Next week is all about sharpening the mind and staying calm and collected. The mental pressure leading up to race day is always my final obstacle—one I’m still learning how to navigate. But bit by bit, we get there.

Time to rest, recharge, and get ready. 💛

First place at @hk100ultra ! And here are some insights on what was really happening on the course beyond the obvious.

I came into the race with no expectations, having been injured for a few months post CCC and just resumed running in December I was nowhere near race shape prior to the race. I honestly felt so strange, not knowing what was going to unfold on race day. I knew my only advantage was that I was feeling really really rested.

My goal was to run easy and just have a good day out on trails. That’s what I did for the first 30km. I felt so good that I decided to pick up the pace and follow the runner ahead of me as she was one of the favorites too. We ran together for the next 20km overtaking a few more girls.

Halfway through the race at the main CP we found ourselves in second and third place. I felt quite good so decided to keep on running at the same pace and to my surprise I was quickly alone tackling the main climbs of the race all by myself.

Being told I gained 4min on the leader at the following CP, I knew the game was on. I felt good and was curious whether I could potentially catch the first runner. This last part of the race was really painful last year and feeling so much better this year gave me a lot of confidence. In the end it went really well and with each CP I was getting closer and closer.

I caught @hauhatrailrunner on the top of Tai Mo Shan. We smiled, waited for one another and knew there was no battle to the finish line. We were happy to finish strong together, showing the rest of the world that there is such thing as friendly rivalry which does not always have to end in a sprint finish. Instead we both took a joint victory, hoping to inspire other women and pave the way for mothers like us.

Fresh memories from an awesome day out on trails! Joint victory with the amazing @hauhatrailrunner and finally first place at the iconic @hk100ultra . Third time’s the charm! Thank you ANTA GUANJUN for this cool video showing my journey from start to finish and getting a glimpse of how much this victory depends on the dedication and effort of the whole team and not only the athlete running.

Forever grateful for the best support by my husband @matuglow , the dedicated crew of ANTA GUANJUN, and the perfect pair of shoes by @billythkim . More thanks to everyone else who helped me along the way to make this possible: @coach_scott_johnston @cardsbeargrylls @abovethecloudssport @maurten_official @leki.hongkong @julbo_hongkong

The Grand Sam: a test of resilience and perseverance:

I've almost pulled out before it even started (DNS). Three times I considered DNS. After Translantau, I've been having some issues with my knee. I questioned that I could endure three days of racing on it. I've managed to get it under control. At the end of my peak week, I was telling myself to focus on not getting injured anymore, and then boom: sprained ankle. The exact same ankle I broke 3 years ago led to many other injuries as a chain of events. Again, I somehow managed to get it under control by taping it. I gained confidence again until 2 days before the first race, and then life threw another curveball at me. Out of nowhere, I caught a cold. I very rarely get sick and then this. What a bad timing! It felt that there was something trying to keep me from the start line. I lost confidence again and considered pulling out for safety reasons. Everyone would've said it's reasonable and the right sensible decision to take. I just couldn't let go. I didn't want another DNS or DNF. I needed to finish this race.

HK100 - Grand Sam Day 3:
The biggest, most competitive race in Asia and what a party all over the course! I want to first thank all the supporters, helpers, and fellow runners along the course. Everyone cheering you on, especially when realizing you're running a 100km race with 90km in your legs from the past two days. What a fantastic community! The biggest thank you goes, as always, to Manu (@wettstein_manuela), who keeps supporting me in all the crazy challenges no matter what. [Part 2 in comments]
