A privilege to be able to give back to the community.
One of the most important assets in the Napa Valley is @olehealthfoundation providing much needed medical resources to all of those in need.
It was a pleasure to lend our skills alongside this group of talented Sommeliers.

Meet Maya. And Maya.

The first was born in 1987.

That same year, her parents, Naoko and the late Gustav Dalla Valle, planted two hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon on their Oakville hillside and named the vineyard after their daughter.

The second Maya arrived one year later, with the 1988 vintage. My vintage too, which perhaps explains why I have a soft spot for this story.

What started as a wine named after a little girl has come full circle. Maya grew up, studied winemaking, worked around the world, and eventually came home. Today, mother and daughter make wine together, carrying on what Naoko and Gustav started almost forty years ago.

And this month, the latest chapter arrived: Maya 2023.

There is something I love about wines that carry more than a vintage on the label. A family, a place, a memory, a story that keeps moving from one generation to the next.

Gustav is no longer in the picture, but he is very much part of it.

And apparently, this story might be making its way to Singapore before the end of the year.

I have a feeling these two ladies have a few good stories to tell over dinner.

Als Michael und ich vor mehr als 20 Jahren unser Herz an Kalifornien verloren, war uns klar, dass diese Weine unbedingt ein großerTeil unseres Wein-Portfolios werden sollten. Bereits mit Bordeaux-Weinen sehr gut aufgestellt, war die Ergänzung mit kalifornischen Weinen die ideale Kombination,
denn Bordeaux lernte von Kalifornien und umgekehrt.
Genau wie bei unseren Bordeaux, kennen wir auch in Kalifornien alle Winzer und/oder Besitzer der Weine, die wir führen. Die Liebe, die Leidenschaft, die bereits im Weinberg beginnt, zieht die Weinlover in ihren Bann und begeistert uns immer wieder. Aus diesen vielen Begegnungen sind
Freundschaften entstanden. Dieses Jahr waren wir zum 20sten Mal in Kalifornien und in Bordeaux natürlich ein Vielfaches mehr.

Wir möchten die Menschen hinter den Weinen kennen, das war immer unsere Philosophie und wird es auch bleiben. Wir haben nie bereut, diesen Weg gegangen zu sein…
