Amazing night meeting Mayor Todd Gloria (@mayortoddgloria) of San Diego and Mayor David Holt (@mayordavidholt) of Oklahoma City at the UCSD Extended Studies’s event in collaboration with Let’s Talk Us @letstalkus_ljcds, Grauer, La Costa Canyon, and Bishops! Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Civic Trust and Action Conference put on by @letstalkus_hq, UCSD, NCRC, and more groups.
I joined the V. I. P. Reception, before listening to @mayortoddgloria and @mayordavidholt speak about coming together in a bipartisan attempt to limit political polarization!
Then the students of Let’s Talk US got to ask questions directly to the mayors. It was a great event! I’m glad to have gotten the opportunity to be there with Let’s Talk US!

City crews are putting the finishing touches on a major resurfacing project along two miles of Bernardo Oaks Drive in Rancho Bernardo, giving new life to a street that hadn't received major rehabilitation since 1987.

The project is another success for the City's in-house Mill-and-Pave Program. So far in FY 2027, City crews have resurfaced more than 10 lane miles, reaching one-third of this year's 30-lane-mile goal!

Since launching in FY 2024, our in-house teams have rehabilitated 84 lane miles of some of San Diego's most deteriorated streets — delivering smoother, safer roads for everyone who travels them. Read about this project with our Link in Bio.

Extreme high tides are expected along San Diego's coastline from Saturday, Oct. 24 through Wednesday, Oct. 28. ⚠️

Higher-than-normal water levels may cause temporary flooding in low-lying coastal areas, including Mission Beach, Midway, Point Loma and other locations that have historically experienced impacts during high tide events.

Because of El Niño, experts warn of increased coastal flooding and erosion in the coming months, making it even more important to stay alert during high-tide periods. City of San Diego crews will be monitoring conditions, placing warning signs where needed, conducting traffic control, and responding to reports of flooding. Sand berms are also in place along Mission Bay to help reduce the impact of high tides.

What you can do:
• Avoid parking in flood-prone areas.
• Follow posted safety signage and be alert to changing conditions.
• Use sandbags where appropriate
Free unfilled sandbags are available to San Diego residents at select recreation centers. Find locations and more safety tips on the City’s El Niño webpage: sandiego.gov/ElNino. Link in bio.

With teamwork from the General Services Department, the Clairemont Library is beginning to look like its old self! 🤝

In July, a car crashed into the Clairemont Library. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Since then, City workers have repaired the interior and exterior of the library, and are getting ready to install shelving and put the books back in their homes.

It won’t be long until the Clairemont Library is back up and running!

Affordability is a national crisis, and today America’s mayors brought the conversation to Columbus and wrapped up with a press conference.

Mayors visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital to see Healthy Family, Healthy Homes, then joined a CelebrateOne roundtable at Columbus Public Health. The focus was on how affordable housing and access to care work together to keep families healthy.

Thank you to @mayor_ginther for hosting, and to the Ohio mayors @chrisamorosegroomes , @kabrubaker85 , @sharettatalynn and @cityofwarren Mayor, Doug Franklin who joined.

In a stunning political showdown, San Diego lawmakers have moved to dismantle the city’s controversial network of more than 500 Flock surveillance cameras, triggering fierce opposition from Mayor Todd Gloria and Police Chief Scott Wahl. The explosive vote comes amid an ACLU-backed lawsuit, nearly 4 million vehicle scans in just one month, allegations of wrongful arrests, and revelations that a former SDPD captain who helped bring Flock to San Diego went to work for the surveillance giant after retiring. With taxpayers spending approximately $2 million annually on the technology, city leaders are now locked in a bitter battle over public safety, government surveillance and the privacy of millions of unsuspecting motorists. Is San Diego finally pulling the plug on mass surveillance, or will the mayor and police chief save the cameras?

City of San Diego Stormwater crews are hard at work cleaning channels and drains in Sorrento Valley. These before-and-after photos show what a difference infrastructure maintenance can make. Channel maintenance will improve stormwater flow and help prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Report clogged drains or illegal dumping on the Get It Done app. Residents can also prepare ahead of the rain. Go to the City’s El Niño page at sandiego.gov/ElNino to find sandbag locations and other storm preparedness resources. Read more with our Link in Bio.
