Come celebrate Big Boy BBQ’s 14th birthday this Sunday!!! How cool that my baby is turning 14! And, it’s on a Sunday Plus this is the 20th year of me running the restaurant in Glen Huntly road Caulfield south (Rusk for 6 years then Big Boy BBQ and Southern Grace Diner) most of which have gone greatly under the radar of continual new openings and expensive fit outs in a town where old establishments are often forgotten and passed over for new openings To say that I am very proud to still be here slinging BBQ after 14 years AND to have been running my restaurant for 20 years is an understatement Thank you to everyone has supported my dream for the last 20 years, there have been a few customers that have been coming for 20 years through all the changes So to celebrate 14 years of slinging BBQ I’m bringing back a few RETRO Big Boy menu items including the OG wings, wings ‘n’ ribs platter, the Carolina, slaw (still on the menu every week), potato salad and the peanut butter cream pie Plus because the menu is always evolving there are some new items like the potato mashies and pan de elote cornbread Walk in & order on Sunday from 12pm or preorder until Saturday night How to “book” & for preorders until Saturday afternoon… Go to the square site (link in bio) Choose your preorder time Pick your menu items (this is a guarantee to get your menu choices) Write “dine in please” in the comment section if you want to eat in, don’t comment if it is to go Once your group are all in store (please come at the time slot you have selected), head to the till area at the front of the shop (skip the line) & we will get you on to the next available table All preorders will get priority in the line for their food & for seating in the restaurant

A homage to Neil Murray, while indeed not an item I have seen in his feed. He cooks food that is very in context with his family and background as is this for me. Thank you @messy_table for being you! Lamb braise and vegetable, fennel and cumin pie in “me made” pate brisee. #briasedlamb #shortcrust #lambpie

Been flat out all week so a bit slow on social Tomorrow’s sweetie is Lenotre’s Concorde cake. Chocolate meringue with chocolate mousse. Sounds simple, it is. It is also a very technical sweet where the finished pudding is greater than its parts Unfortunately the preorder system is now off, so it’s walk in orders tomorrow from 12pm for dine in and take out #southerngrace #soulfoodie #thesouth #meatandthree #comfortfood #homemadefood #homebaked #pickles #preserves #thesouth #southern #southernfood #soulfood #soulfoodmelbourne #soulfoodaustralia #bbqandthree #bbqsides #bbqfixings #carnivore #pie #templesofpie #pieislove #sweets #dessert #bbqlife #bbqnation #bbqlovers

It’s all about the fish on #goodfriday & probably other things too. Anyway, lunch today, enough butter to rival @messy_table bread by @ketbaker found myself a supplier of duck eggs ( oh I’m excited to get some baking done) picked up glorious white anchovies from @farmfoodsqueenscliff & the seasoning that pulled everything together, black garlic salt from @wwhatsprinkletoseason , just feeling my cholesterol rise as I post… #shoplocal #supportsmallbusiness

Cooked it Friday. Ate it Sunday. Veal osso bucco. I reckon the risotto Milanese matches it best.

Evan Milne of @stockonhand is spreading Hospo love. Help if you can - I’ve put a link to the campaign in my profile - and thanks for bringing it to my attention @obiwancannubi @messy_table #Repost @obiwancannubi ・・・ @stockonhand is one of the best humans in the wine game. On top of all he is having to deal with right now he has started this project, using his time, money and resources to spread some much needed hospo love. Lots of people are on board now but they have a huge demand. Everyone in the game who is doing it tough needs a little help, they also need some wine… because they aren’t camels. I’ve donated money. You can donate wine or cash, which will go to supplying wine, for the peeps who keep our industry running. Contact Evan and if you tell him I sent you then you he has promised that for each donation he will leave me alone for 24 hours. So, dig deep….
