Thank you so much to @rastacam.c for always believing in me, it was truly a gift to have been part of your choreographic process and I had so much fun bringing your vision to the stage ⭐️

And to my fellow cast members, classmates and friends, thank you so much for creating such a warm and welcoming environment! You all are such incredible dancers and I’m so happy to have crossed paths with you 🤍

Yesterday, students, families, friends, and faculty celebrated the culmination of an extraordinary year filled with growth, dedication, discipline, communication, collaboration, patience, repetition, explanation, determination, and, of course, joy. As a faculty, we have the huge responsibility and honor of guiding these young people, while also continuing to learn from them. Thank you to the wonderful families for everything you do, to my colleagues for being the best team ever, and to @monicadstephenson for leading us. #ilovemyjob #iamsoreadyforthesummer ✨

Guess what?! We are at time! Today, March 25 - tomorrow, March 26 is a special opportunity to give directly to the next generation of dancers in Preparatory Dance! Tuition fees cover instructional costs, but each picture represents where donations to the Prep for Dance Education Fund completes each dancer’s education experience: 1. $29,000 in financial aid and scholarships for the 25-26 school year, 2. All production expenses: costume rental, costume cleaning, and union professional sound and lighting technicians for Prep performances, 3. Studio 4 renovation with new barres and mirrors for Prep classes, 4. Guest artist classes with top industry professionals, 5. Festival and Competition entrance fees for the Advanced Training Program. No gift is too small to reach the collective goal of $12,000. Every gift up to $6,000 is matched 1:1 by Prep Dance Alumni Parents Craig and Kathleen Cannon and Drs. Laura and David Ramsay…join us! Select Preparatory Dance at the link in the bio…THANK YOU!

Their very first audition. They nailed it!!!💯
@uncsaprep The beauty of studying at UNCSA is the incredible opportunity to train with the best of the best! Yesterday, Preparatory Dance children in Levels 1 and 2 auditioned for the iconic former principals of the Houston Ballet-Ms. Lauren Anderson and Mr. Phillip Broomhead for their staging of Sleeping Beauty Prologue for Spring Dance with the @uncsadance high school and college students. Come see the Preparatory Dance students in the role of Pages April 23-26 at the Freedman Theater!

There is a unique kind of magic at UNCSA. Spending the last 14 days teaching and collaborating with such fierce, dedicated young artists has been an incredible experience. We have been inspiring each other, revisiting the fundamentals, and envisioning bold possibilities for the future. Keep dreaming young artists. 🌟

It’s the final Friday of Black History Month.

I’m reflecting on presenting From Soul to Syllabus at IABD with Nikki Wilson Hefko earlier this month. 🤎

We spend February celebrating Black excellence in ballet — as we should. But excellence is not accidental. It is trained. It is structured. It is cultivated.

If we are serious about diversity, equity, and inclusion in this art form, then we must be equally serious about pedagogy.

Strong syllabi.
Well-educated teachers.
High standards in every classroom.

That is how we protect potential.
That is how we build longevity.
That is how we honor legacy.

Let’s keep the work going! 🙌🏿

The UNCSA BFA Juniors had three beautiful five year olds to practice teach level Primary of the ABT National Training Curriculum as part of their Beginning Ballet Pedagogy course. The teachers are building their tool kits! These little ones with straight backs in plies and heels forward in tendus are well on their way! Congratulations to all!
