I finally made it to the magical, watery fairy forest land that is the Scottish Highlands.

Thank you to @girlswho.hike for curating an unforgettable trip with ten wonderful women. Going to Scotland in mid-October could have been treacherous but did you know if you’re hot you bring the sunshine wherever you go?!

We arrived to light rain, which blessed us with rainbow after rainbow to make a wish on, then the sun was so bright we were up a mountain with the cherries out.

One of my favourite moments of the long weekend was driving back towards Glasgow into literal heaven. Soft sunlight breaking the clouds, clouds that looked like lakes, the horizon like a mirror.

One of my funniest moments was “bog factor 3” which put my sexy gaiters and new hiking boots to the test. Despite trekking the longest trails and some massive mountains all around the world, I’ve never ever had appropriate footwear… highly recommend the On Cloudrock Mid Waterproof Walking Boots – I walked through a stream, slid down a munro and squelched through mud and my feet were still bone dry.

Or maybe when a grumpy local in the pub said “you don’t look like hill walkers”!!

Oh, and the galaxy night sky from @bothy_doire was so sparkly and beautiful. We stayed in the cosy off-grid cabin, nestled in the woodland near Acharacle on Scotland’s west coast.

Thank you Mother Nature for reminding me I won’t be in the city forever.

💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌿 Girls Who Hike - Scottish Highlands, October 2026

📍 Sgùrr Thuilm, 4769 feet, 20km, 8hours

Start with the tourists at the Harry Potter Bridge (Glenfinnan Viaduct) and then watch them all turn left while you turn right. Continue for 3km until out of sight of civilisation, and attempt to climb a very steep, challenging ascent up to the top of the Munroe.

Complain that your bag is too heavy because you packed lots of layers ‘just in case’ and Scotland surprised you with a sunny day.

Despair a little bit along the way after each peak seems to be a phantom summit, and that there’s still quite a long way to go.

With views at the summit of Loch Shiel, Ben Nevis, Knoydart and down to Loch Arkaig.

Try not to fall down a ridge or slip in the bog (factor 3) on the way down. Many of us did 🧑🏻‍🩰

Enjoy a well-deserved Tennent’s pint after.

An immensely touching experience at the House of Dreams hosted by @porter_studios__ and the wonderful Stephen who welcomed us in his home and museum. An invitation to seeking one’s liberty and self-expression.

Last week, to mark London Design Festival, we opened the doors to artist Stephen Wright’s House of Dreams, a remarkable hybrid home and gallery created over more than two decades.

The first Porter Presents: Encounters, an intimate evening experiencing the house through the eyes of its creator, and a new series bringing people closer to creative spaces, practices and the people behind them.

An evening of discovery and conversation, exploring the relationship between artist, object and space, and the meaning we give to the things we choose to live with.

Stephen shared the stories, memories and processes held within the house, and his instinctive compulsion to collect, make and create. Here, objects become more than things: they hold memories, mark moments and collectively tell the story of a life.

A huge thank you to Stephen for so generously opening his home to us, and to everyone who joined us.
