Bib Gourmand Mediterranean food 🤩

We loved @morchelladining ♥️ it’s been on my list for ages and so glad to have finally ticked it off!

We shared small plates from their seasonal, modern and inventive menu:

🍞 dulse focaccia (so good we ordered a second)

🥩 steak tartare - came as a bite wrapped in cured beef

🐚 scallops with nduja

🥐 salt cod churros

🐠 cured tuna with cherry

🐑 lamb (3 ways) with seasonal veg

🥔 parmentier potatoes

🍫 chocolate Paris-Brest (choux pastry with cream, almonds and chocolate sauce)

🍸 jalapeño martini

The churros and the lamb were the standout dishes but we did love everything! Special mention to the jalapeño martini which was super smooth with a hint of spice 🌶️

We sat on the terrace outside which was great (and still had the cutlery drawers at your table) but inside is probably nicer

Spent around £60pp on the food 🍴

I’m a food journalist, here’s everywhere i ate this week (and where you should too)

@morchelladining, the Clerkenwell Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar has launched a new summer BBQ menu on its terrace, available from Thursday to Sunday.

Cooked over lumpwood charcoal, the seasonal offering celebrates the exceptional suppliers Morchella works with, beginning with a daily changing selection of fish and shellfish from @hendersonseafood. Dishes not to be missed included the tranche of turbot with salsa verde, the Flourish Farm cherry tomato with stracciatella, sweetcorn with spider crab and chilli butter, and the divine Parmentier potatoes, which was one of the best potatoes dishes we’ve had. To finish, the pecan and dark chocolate Paris-Brest was the perfect way to end the meal, with a rich chocolate filling and delicate pastry.

Dinner at the modern Mediterranean, Michelin Guide restaurant Morchella (that’s a lot of Ms) from the magnificent team behind the Michelin-starred restaurant Perilla. Mmm!🍴

Call me basic or performative whatever…but this post needs Juna; at least I’m drinking beer and not matcha. At @morchelladining, my favourite dish would be the famous Salt Cod Churros because I’m basic like that. I’d rename it Long Legs. Joint first place goes to the Cavatelli, Asparagus, Nettle: ideal for veggie haters because their creamy sauce erased every trace of green taste. Their menu changes often though, so if you go and can’t find these dishes, suddenly I’m not basic anymore🫑Note: also ordered the Spanakopita, Pork Jowl, and the Herdwick Lamb!
