It’s not just a song—it’s a declaration, a diary, and a testament to perseverance through decades of finding, losing, and reclaiming one’s voice. This track captures a lifetime of storytelling, with lyrics that weave seamlessly through time, tracing my journey from childhood aspirations to present-day revelations. It’s a sonic portrait of growth—raw, intricate, and deeply personal, yet universally resonant.

“Don’t Make No Music” pays homage to the influences that shaped me, blending personal reflection with cultural nods. References to Flavor Flav, Afrobeat rhythms, and poignant storytelling evoke a rich tapestry of sound and identity. The song pulses with echoes of luminaries like Lauryn Hill, whose soulful vulnerability inspires every word, and Nina Simone, whose unapologetic artistry paved the way for voices like mine.

Thank you Allison Harris of @kcur893 for my first article ever.

I spoke to my mom last night on the phone and we discussed it all. She couldn’t recall a time, a clipping, an interview, nothing. But I told her to not fret because being myself embodied has been my best work yet.

Focusing on myself, showing up fully as an artist, and being seen and recognized on the very same platform I left behind in my hometown to go be great out in the world is a testament to how good God is.

Someone recently told me to stop knocking on the door of the NBA and just keep showing up to the gym, to practice, to the games, and WIN. This… this is that W. Proud of the entire team.

Keep making art.

I’ve got BIG dreams and Kansas City is making my wildest dreams come true.

Stepping out on just the faith of a mustard seed has changed my entire life. I get to show up as an artist in KC and call this place home. 2 years in and I’ve met so many phenomenal humans just being.

It feels good to know that our collective liberation is wrapped up in our artistic expression, our collective experiences, and our willingness to grow and expand what we even thought was possible or impossible.

Thank you @artintheloop for the opportunity to create a Wonderland. I’m excited to create and build together.
