Couldn't be prouder of our Prime Minister this week. He promised he would bring back hope again, and he has. To a country, a movement and a party that has been crying out for it ❤️

Photo by the rather wonderful Nicola Tree, taken at the Royal Geographical Society where Peter Kropotkin, a 19Cth Russian physical geographer and anarchist thinker, peers at me, with what I hope is distinct air of approval!

It was really kind of @rgs_ibg - home to a million maps- to be so welcoming. Director Joe Smith took the time to show us round.

They are working on bringing the contributions and achievements of those previously obscured from history to light- mainly women and ethnic minorities.

They have a picture of Arnarulunnguaq. She was a Greenlandic woman, born in 1896, who travelled 18,000km across the Arctic and Bering Strait with the Thule expedition. Chances are you've heard of Knud Rasmussen, but I bet you didn't know about the woman who showed him the way.

This photo is part of a series of portraits taken to celebrate 40% of MPs being women.

The Royal Society of British Photographers are working with Image & Reality to bring The 40% Project together as a beautiful photobook celebrating this historic moment for women in Parliament.

There is a Kickstarter campaign. The appeal finishes at the end of July. Last time I looked they were still a couple of thousand short. Please pledge if you can, and share the campaign widely.

Every pledge and every share helps bring this important project to life.

It was lovely to show the fantastic @nicola_tree around some of my favourite places from my childhood here in Huddersfield, as she took my photo for the Royal Photographic Society's '40% Project'. This project will celebrate a record number of female MPs -40% – something I am so proud of, especially being Huddersfield's first female MP.

Many thanks to all who came along to my pop-up studio at @dungenessrnli last weekend, part of their annual fundraiser for the @rnli - the charity that saves lives at sea.
It is always a hugely rewarding experience for me, meeting and making new portraits of the volunteers, visitors and residents who together contribute to this small and unique community.
It is a privilege to be granted a few intimate moments with some who I already know, but most who arrive as strangers.
Thank you for sharing your stories, and allowing me to get up close and personal.
Your portraits will be sent in the coming weeks. Meanwhile swipe to see some of last year's.
