“After True and False”: The ball is rolling.

Using footage shot on my phone over the last three or so years, I made another video. Due to length restrictions, it can’t be posted here. But I hope you’ll make the effort to check it out.

The video’s audio comes from the newly released audiobook of 3rd & Orange. The idea for the project was developed on a long road trip back from Baja Sur, Mexico with my buddies Jorge and Bruce in September of 2025.

Jorge and I met up in St Louis the following January to record everything and work on music and a sound score. In April we spent another week in a bungalow on Catalina Island, finalizing the music, jiggering with timing and tinkering with lots of tedious technical aspects. ¡Finally it’s available! through Audible, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, etc. And in the coming days and weeks, it will be even more widely available, including on Spotify (where a PDF of the book’s text will be included as a bonus), Apple Music, and more. (An ebook version is now available too--hurrah!)

I want to publicly thank Jorge for helping to bring this audio project to a most satisfying completion. Without his creative collaboration and studio skills, I would’ve never been able to realize the grand vision in my mind. Together, we transcended that original vision—something I always hope for with any creative undertaking.

The result is an audiobook unlike anything we’ve ever encountered—a hybrid book and album—where musical ideas weave naturally and integrally with the written, spoken ones.

Give it a listen on your next long walk. I’m confident you’ll agree. If you do, please pass it on with a good word for us. It means a lot more than you might think.

NOTE: The audiobook was recorded by Jorge Valcárcel at Boxcar Labs, St Louis, MO. Sound design and music by Jorge Varcárcel, with help from Ashley Sturm. It was mastered by Alex Saltz of APS Mastering.

Find this and other videos like it available on YouTube.

3rd & Orange is available in print at several independent bookshops in southern CA and the Bay Area. Visit joshuaperalta.net to learn more.
