The sport changes. Some instincts stay.

Mia Azizul, Natasha Loke, Eugenia David and Joanne Wong each bring something from their sporting past into pickleball. For one, it’s a feel for angles; for another, a taste for fast exchanges. Now they’re coaching, competing and finding out how far the game can take them.

Making Waves / Edition 04 introduces four players at different points in that journey.
Swipe to meet them. Who should we spotlight next?

“Why do you always look so stressed when you play?”

Probably the most common comment I’ve gotten throughout my 2 years of competitive pickleball.

But the truth is, I’ve heard it since my competitive tennis and rifle shooting days. I was always told, “You need to work on your mental game if you want to go far.”

The problem? I never really knew how.

This year, I found Motor & Minds, and they gave me the direction and clarity I needed — helping me understand what I feel under pressure and, most importantly, how to reset for the next point.

I’m still a work in progress, but for the first time, I feel like I’m learning how to train my mind, not just my game. 🫂

Next post: my journey, progress & what I’m doing to level up my mental game. 🧠🏓

Driving the ball is easy. Driving the ball consistently is the hard part. 😮‍💨
I have so much more to learn.
Waking up at 7am for this 2 hr session was worth it.
Thanks Natashaaaaaa 🙌

Always appreciate @nutsha03 for trusting me 🫶🏻 We barely get to practise together for games, most of the time we only meet on the tourney day but luckily our chemistry always works!

Not forgetting my home ground support from @team.dispicklebles.pb , @91pickleballclubhousejohor and @wong.j.t for quality drills, trainings, guidance and court for always pushing me to be better and stronger! 🥒💪🏻
