Would you stay at a Dolly Parton-themed hotel?

In 2026, @songtellerhotel will open in downtown Nashville – according to the website, the hotel will infuse "Dolly's songwriting spirit...into every room and suite. Wake up inspired by the artistic design, curated refinement, and unique Southern charm."

In other roots music news, @rhiannongiddens and @rissipalmermusic , with help from writer/editor/broadcaster/sometimes ND-contributor Kelly McCartney, have collaborated on a kids book titled Color Me Country: A Celebration of Black Women Who Shaped Country Music. All proceeds will go to support the mission of the Color Me Country Fund, which builds on the work of @colormecountryradio.

Learn more about both of these projects, as well as more roots news and upcoming releases, in our BONUS TRACKS column (link in bio!)

Hey we have a new single and here’s why I forgot

An indelible memory: it was thirty-six years ago, I was fresh out of university where I’d had a good time and earned good grades, and I looked forward to continuing within the rarefied (for me, at the time) halls of academia, and I was sitting across from my doctor, who told me:

“I think that you’re having problems with your memory,” she said gesturing to an illegible MRI scan of my brain. “The scan is clean.” She gestured about. I remember following her clean finger nails across the grainy image, she picking out areas of the brain that looked normal, me wondering if what she said was true, was my memory gone? How would I be able to know I couldn’t remember? When, in fact, I could remember every notable aspect of today as it happened: I woke up to blue skies, felt serene. I petted my cat, who usually wakes before me; went downstairs for coffee. Took a shower, about my usual length, did my morning routine (masturbate, put on deodorant, brush my teeth) and got ready for my morning appointment with my doctor.

“It’s becoming more and more clear to me that your memory is impaired. When you look in the mirror, what do you see?”

“I see my self, of course.”

“I see. And when you see yourself, do you remember who you are? Who do you see in the mirror?”

“I see myself as I am in that moment — perhaps reversed — but no, I don’t remember who was in the mirror’s past. I remember myself, but not my mirror self. Was I in the mirror before I appeared? I don’t remember my reflection in the mirror’s past; the mirror shows me as I am now, as I won’t be in the future.”

NEW SINGLE OMG

@oliverthecrow has been sittin on these songs for an age and we’re super happy to trickle them out now.

‘If You Knew Me Better’ is one of mine and I really hope ya like what we did.

It was a joy putting these vulnerable songs in the hands of our dear pal @adacostamusic, we couldn’t have imagined someone better to build this sound with. One of the best artists I’ve ever known, truly.

Not to mention heroes @jburgerdrums @gusberry @mrmaster3000

Thanks for knowing me best of all and still deciding you don’t want to do better @kraitz ❤️
