Blue Symphony, reimagined. ✨

A pair like this does not begin with a design. It begins with the extraordinary fortune of finding two fine Australian boulder opals that truly belong together.

At 14.03ct, these Winton opals possess a vivid blue play-of-colour and depth that immediately command attention. Yet what makes them particularly remarkable is their relationship to one another. Nature does not make duplicates, and fine opals of this calibre cannot simply be ordered in matching pairs. Each remains completely individual, yet together they speak the same visual language.

That rarity deserved a design of equal consideration. Set in 18K gold and diamonds, the composition was created to frame the opals without diminishing the importance of the gems themselves.

Blue Symphony was inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours: Blue and by those rare moments when music, art or emotion become so absorbing that everything else disappears.

Part of my Dream Collection, this is not simply a beautiful pair of opal earrings. It is a collector’s jewel born from a natural pairing that Mother Nature was under no obligation to give us.

There are gems you admire. Deseo is one you desire.

Across this extraordinary 14.22ct black boulder opal from Winton, blues, greens, reds and flashes of gold appear in layer after layer, changing their intensity and relationship with every movement. The effect is made even more remarkable by its exquisite pattern, giving the stone a complexity that rewards a closer look again and again.

This is what makes fine opal so endlessly fascinating to me. Mother Nature has somehow gathered an entire spectrum into one gemstone, yet arranged it in a pattern that belongs to this opal alone. There is no second Deseo waiting to be found.

The 18K white gold and diamonds were designed to sharpen that extraordinary colour contrast, giving structure to the jewel while allowing the opal’s wild chromatic character to dominate.

Un objeto de deseo.

A limited edition of one, for the collector who understands how exceptional such individuality in Australian opal can be.

The name Special Vision is no accident.

For centuries, opal has been surrounded by extraordinary lore. The ancient Greeks believed it bestowed the gift of prophecy, an ability to see beyond what was immediately before them. I have always found that association particularly fitting for a gemstone whose appearance is never completely revealed in a single glance.

Special Vision centres on a formidable 22.45ct dark boulder opal from Winton. Its saturated greens and blues are interrupted by brilliant flashes of the full spectrum, revealing themselves differently as the stone moves. At this scale, the colour has extraordinary visual authority.

A gemstone of such presence called for discipline in the design. The 18K yellow gold setting is deliberately restrained, tracing the opal’s natural form and allowing nothing to compete with what Mother Nature has already achieved.

This is not an everyday opal jewel. Special Vision was created for the serious collector who recognises that the finest Australian opals are not merely decorative objects, but singular natural works that deserve to be understood as much as admired.

Love in White belongs to that exceedingly rare category of jewels where the gemstone itself is the event.

At its centre is a magnificent 27.56ct solid, untreated white boulder opal from our own Jundah-Opalville mines in Queensland, ethically sourced by my husband, John Bernard. Its immaculate clarity, exceptional scale and luminous play-of-colour place it among the most remarkable white boulder opals we have encountered. We had not seen opals of this calibre before, and we have not seen them since.

Across its pale body, delicate flashes of spectral colour appear and disappear with the light. At 27.56ct, the effect is extraordinary, giving the gem a presence that immediately arrests the eye.

Such an opal called for a setting of equal conviction. Sculptural 18K yellow gold follows the natural contours of the stone, while a sweep of diamonds brings brilliance without diminishing the authority of the opal itself.

Love in White is not simply a one-of-a-kind ring. It is a collector’s jewel built around a natural rarity that cannot be commissioned, recreated or replaced.

A limited edition of one, with its matching pendant forming an exceptional suite for the serious connoisseur of Australian opal.

Love in White is not simply a beautiful opal pendant. It is a rarity of a very different order.

At its centre is an exceptionally large, immaculately clean white boulder pipe opal from our own Jundah-Opalville mines in Queensland, mined by my husband, John Bernard. Opals of this quality and scale have not appeared from these fields before or since. Its luminous body carries a delicate spectrum of colour that seems almost suspended within the stone.

When a gem is this extraordinary, the design has to respect it. The opal was set in 18K rose gold and diamonds, with an enhancer bail that allows it to be worn over pearls or a more substantial necklace, while keeping the gemstone entirely at the centre of attention.

This is not a jewel for the casual collector. It is for someone who understands what it means to encounter a natural gemstone that may never be repeated by Mother Nature.

A limited edition of one, and one of the rarest white boulder opals we have had the privilege to offer.

A 28.25ct Australian boulder opal like this has an extraordinary presence.

What captivated me about the opal in Dancing in the Rain was the intensity of its diagonal blue and green colour, moving across the stone almost like light through water. At this scale, there is so much happening within the gem that the design needed to respect rather than compete with it.

Eighteen diamonds were suspended above the opal to twinkle and sway with movement, giving Dancing in the Rain its name. The setting remains deliberately refined, allowing this remarkable Winton boulder opal to command the attention it deserves.

Even the enhancer bail adds another dimension, allowing the pendant to be worn over pearls, an omega or another substantial necklace.

A limited edition of one, created around an Australian opal whose size, colour and individuality could never simply be reproduced.

Available at Opal Minded, Sydney or by private enquiry.

There is a particular elegance in jewellery designed for a man who notices the details.

For La Lumière Bleue, a pair of natural Australian doublet opals (7.45ct) from Lightning Ridge were chosen for their deep blues and greens, with flashes of colour appearing as the light moves across them. Each is encircled by diamonds, 64 in total, bringing a precise brilliance to the richness of the opal.

The combination of 18K white gold and sterling silver gives the cufflinks a contemporary, understated character. I wanted the design to feel distinguished without being conventional, something for a man with an assured sense of personal style.

Created as a limited edition of one, La Lumière Bleue also makes an exceptional Father’s Day gift for someone deserving of something far from ordinary. 💙

Okay but why did nobody tell me Australia is basically the HOME of opal?! 🤯🇦🇺

💎 Australia produces around 90% of the world’s precious opal
🦖 Actual DINOSAUR FOSSILS have been found opalized here
💧 Opal can contain up to 20% water
🌈 The rainbow colors aren’t pigment, they’re actually created by light interacting with microscopic silica spheres
🇦🇺 It’s literally Australia’s national gemstone

Sooo… bringing Opal Free all the way to Australia feels a little too meant to be. 💚 Huge thank you to @opal.minded for going above and beyond and blowing our minds when we stopped by!

There are some opals that leave you completely speechless. ✨

La Stupenda is one of them.

This extraordinary gem was found by my husband, John Bernard, in our own Jundah-Opalville mines in Queensland. What makes it so remarkable is the intensity of its colour and the way it comes alive with movement. There is so much happening within this opal that, honestly, words can only say so much.

It is one of the most treasured pieces in our private collection and one I feel incredibly fortunate to have known and lived with.

A truly exceptional creation of nature. One of a kind and never to be found again.

Summer Melody is my interpretation of the feeling that only summer can bring. ☀️

At its heart is a remarkable 3.71ct black opal from Lightning Ridge, its vibrant pinks, greens and rainbow flashes shifting beautifully with every movement. I designed the ring in 18K yellow gold, gently embracing the gemstone with 37 diamonds that follow its natural contours rather than compete with it.

Part of our Dream Collection, Summer Melody is a one-of-a-kind creation for someone who values beauty, individuality and the power of a truly exceptional gem.

What happens when the sea meets the sky, and both are captured in opal? ✨

I was inspired by that meeting point between deep, inky water and the shimmer of stars above when I designed When the Sea Meets the Sky.

At its centre is a remarkable 12.22ct Winton black boulder opal, set in 18K white and yellow gold beneath a shimmering canopy of diamonds. Its deep blue and green play-of-colour shifts beautifully with every movement, like light dancing across the ocean.

A one-of-a-kind creation, designed for those who love rare elegance and unforgettable beauty.
