ONE YEAR ON THE ROAD

what a crazy year it’s been! we have spent the year exploring WA

from living in Perth for 3 months exploring the city and working to travel full time

exploring down south with the most beautiful beaches. To then travelling up north basing ourselves in the beautiful exmouth to live and work

We have been lucky enough to travel parts of our journey with longtime friends and meet so many new friends too

It hasn’t always been easy. At times we’ve both felt lonely and missed friends and family but we’ve had no regrets

Getting to see places we have always dreamed of and lived life just how it should be

If you’re thinking about doing a lap or a similar trip this is your sign to do it. even if it’s just a small road trip you have always dreamed of. It truly is the most amazing experience and you will not regret it

a moment i’ve been chasing for over 12 months now and today the ocean decided to make up for the wait! i finally got my manta swim 😭

not one, not two but we counted eight mantas surrounding the boat! all gathered for a coral spawn feeding event, giving me swim after swim after swim, each one somehow better than the last

10 swims in (i think), completely overwhelmed and thinking the day couldn’t possibly get any better until we spotted one more, the biggest and darkest manta of the day…

of course i had to jump back in and as i ducked underneath her, i realised i wasn’t looking at just any manta but a melanistic one 🖤 a rare genetic variation that gives them that incredible all black colouring and something that has been sitting on my ocean bingo card foreverrrrr

a lifelong dream that seriously couldn’t have played out any better (and the countless jelly stings were well worth it 🪼)!

been a tad too convenient for pub feeds and iga trips 🫠 (budget has been absolutely blown) we’ve had a bloody good time with some incredible people

Back with another round of catch & cooks, and this is what dinner at our place looked like this week! 👌🏼🦀

ft. the many spanish mackie fillets and some muddies we caught this week! We absolutely love this whole process, from the catch, to coming up with new recipes to try! You can’t get much fresher than this!

Bad call I guess? 😅

Picture this: you’ve pulled up to camp after a day out on the water, clouds are rolling in providing a beautiful dramatic sunset, you all watch the lightning in awe and say “nah that storm’s ages away, it will go around us surely” 🫠

A few hours later…the wind and rain comes out of no where! We’re frantically packing up whilst getting saturated. Awnings are blowing, rooftops weren’t zipped up and beds are getting wet, we’re moving the cars around, it’s chaos!
But through it all, we couldn’t stop laughing! 🤣
