What does it actually take to fuel at the WHL level? 🏒

Coming off a WHL Championship run that stretched into June, Hunter Rudolph had a short window to recover, rebuild, and prepare his body to do it all over again.

And despite already competing at an elite level, we identified one major opportunity:

He wasn’t fueling enough to match what his body was being asked to do.

Hunter was skating, lifting, recovering, and intentionally trying to add quality size—but was consistently falling short of his energy demands.

And like a lot of young hockey players, his previous approach was simple:

“I was just trying to eat anything to gain weight.”

This summer wasn’t about telling Hunter to just eat more.

It was about teaching him how to fuel with purpose.

⚡ Enough total energy to support the workload
🍚 Carbohydrates to fuel performance and replenish glycogen
🥩 Protein to support repair and muscle growth
🥑 Fats strategically balanced within his overall intake
💧 Hydration
😴 Recovery and sleep
🍱 And most importantly—learning how to make it all CONSISTENT

Because at the WHL level, talent is everywhere.

As Hunter put it:

“Everyone is so good and the little things are definitely a game changer. You want to get any slight edge you can get on your opponents.”

That’s what this summer was about.

Not creating the “perfect diet.”

Creating habits Hunter can take back to Everett and rely on through practices, travel, lifts, games, and the grind of another long season.

Hunter is already competing where thousands of young hockey players are trying to get.

And one of his biggest takeaways?

You don’t have to wait until you reach the next level to start taking care of your body like you belong there.

Proud of the work you put in this summer, Hunter. Now go have a year. 🤝

🤍 One week, three wonderful weddings! 🤍

🪻 6/26, Nashville: Katie and Frankie
🌸 6/20, Minot: Audrey and Jaxon
💐 6/19, Moorhead: Olivia and Brett

A few miles, a couple blisters, and a whole lotta joy. It was an honor to cheer on these awesome young people as they launch into the adventure that is marriage, and so fantastic to catch up with old friends, classmates, former teammates, and family we rarely get the chance to see.

Big, big congrats to the newlyweds, and huge thanks for the most excellent merriment! So. Much. Fun.
