Make it through the waffle so you can see the 4 ideas and let me know what you think! But more importantly, so you can see some stupid outtakes AND an accidental looping video 🔄

Which option do you think?

Happy sewing Sunday!

This is another of many different versions of the @papercutpatterns #axisdress. For this version I added 6 inches of width to each side of the skirt panels to create more fullness.

The fabric is a cotton lace from @farmhousefabrics I have had in my stash for years!

I lined it with a basic cotton lining I got from the Chicago textile outlet years ago as well. I am sewing my stash!

I like how the white lining really helps the navy blue lace stand out.

The fuller skirt makes this dress a dream to wear.

More soon!

This pattern has been on my sewing list for as long as I can remember and has been around since 2013 - it is the @papercutpatterns Coppelia Cardigan #coppeliacardi

It’s a classic ballet style raglan sleeve wrap and comes in 2 views. View 1 is cropped with adjustable ties and view 2 is longer with the wrap fixed to one side. Designed for jersey fabrics.

I’d kind of been put off sewing this pattern because of a few negative reviews regarding the drafting and sizing. But, hey, I’d also seen some lovely versions so finally decided that I needed to sew it myself to make up my own mind.

The sizing on this pattern is not as extensive as newer releases - bust measurements are 30” to 47”. Some people have complained about it sewing up large so I researched as much as I could and used the finished measurements as my guide for picking which size to sew. I decided to go down one full size - I sewed size 2 instead of size 3. I also decided to sew my first version in a cotton lycra jersey rather than a drapier knit fabric which would have resulted in a looser fit. I didn’t have high expectations for how this top would come out, but I’m actually really happy with the fit on me. I might add a tiny bit to the length next time. Obviously I’ve sewn the cropped version with the adjustable ties - the ties can be knotted/tied to the front or back (I prefer to the front but have shown you both here).

The construction of this top is simple and it comes together quickly. I used a combination of my sewing machine and overlocker/serger. It’s been a long time since I’ve sewn a knit on my sewing machine, but with this top there is a lot of fabric at the neckline to ease into the band so I opted to use the sewing machine and finish the seams by overlocking. You also need to sew one arm seam and side seam by sewing machine due to the hole needed to thread one if the ties through - I opted to sew the other side in the same way (minus hole) so that they are finished in the same way. I used Gutermann Maraflex thread in both needle and bobbin (the slightly stretchy thread) and a straight stitch of 3mm ….. continued under next photo as I’ve run out of space ..

I tried out the @truebiaspatterns Quinn Vest for the first time and I love how it came out in this POD print and hemp fabric (given to me from @minervadotcom )

I made a size 2 with no modifications. The fabric is a medium-to-heavyweight hemp from @minervadotcom, and I paired it with the @papercutpatterns Guise Pants in a lightweight chambray.

I also made this at the @portlandmqg retreat😍

Notes for next time – I’ll scoop the underarm area just a little bit and maybe make the bodice a half inch or an inch longer.
