“I don’t really get art.” Good news. You don’t have to. You don’t need an art degree, a creative bone in your body, or the ability to explain what a painting means to enjoy visiting an art gallery. Sometimes, all it takes is seeing something that makes you stop and look twice. We recently celebrated artist Susan Martin Meggs at the opening reception for her art display, Interplays, and we’re sharing a few favorite moments from the evening! Her work explores the relationships between light and shadow, architecture and nature, and the things we notice when we look a little closer. Maybe a piece reminds you of somewhere you’ve been. Maybe you notice something unexpected. Maybe you simply discover a color, shape, or image you love. There’s no right or wrong way to experience art. And you still have time to see it for yourself! Interplays is on view through Saturday, November 7, and all artwork is available for purchase. You might even discover a piece you’d love to take home. 📍 Emily Monk Davidson Gallery at FCAC 3725 N. Main St., Farmville, NC 🕘 Gallery Hours Tuesday–Friday: 9 AM–12 PM Friday evenings: 4–6 PM Saturday: 10 AM–2 PM Admission is FREE. Everyone is welcome. Whether you visit galleries all the time or you’ve never stepped inside one, there’s a place for you here. Come see what catches your eye. You might surprise yourself.

It’s time to celebrate the incredible talents of our students on a statewide stage. The NC Community College System Office and the NC AFA Association are officially accepting submissions for the NC AFA Student Showcase. This digital gallery will be featured live at the NC Community College System Conference in Raleigh from October 14 through 16. Whether your students are shaping clay, writing sonatas, or commanding the stage, we want their creative work represented. Submissions are open to all AFA-affiliated programs, including Visual Art, Music, and Theatre. Here is what you need to know to get involved: Faculty and administrators submit on behalf of current students and recent graduates. Each program may submit up to five portfolio-quality works representing their discipline. The final day to submit is Monday, August 24, 2026. Let’s show the entire state system the high-caliber, diverse, and dedicated work being produced in our AFA programs.
