Check out my review of Joe Cornick’s Steel: The Blood of Us by clicking the link in my bio.

Steel: The Blood of Us is a visual telling of the trials and triumphs of Port Talbot, a small Welsh shore town. The steel industry was formerly the mitochondria of this town, powering a community that still means so much to so many people. Very excited to announce that my debut feature documentary “Steel: The Blood of Us” will have its festival preview at the Sheffield Film Festival on 35mm film, before screening across the UK as part of Steel on Film Roadshow this Autumn.

Making this documentary has undoubtedly changed my life. I’ve worked on it for almost four years around the town of Port Talbot, South Wales, capturing the raw and emotional final years of traditional steelmaking in the town. I feel truly humbled to have been welcomed into the lives, homes and stories of people across the whole community.

The Steel on Film UK Roadshow Screenings brings Steel: The Blood of Us together with the rarely seen 1976 documentary The Face of Change, creating a programme that explores 50 years of Britain’s steel communities.

Sheffield Film Festival, Sheffield - Monday 14th September (35mm)
Reel Cinema, Port Talbot - Thursday 17th September
The Market Hall Cinema, Ebbw Vale - Friday the 18th September
Chapter, Cardiff - Saturday 19th September
Studio Cinema, Coleford - Sunday 20th September
Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry - Wednesday, 23rd September (35mm)
The Regent Cinema, Redcar - Sunday 27th September
Phoenix Cinema, Falmouth - Wednesday 14th October
The Genesis Cinema, London - Sunday 25th October (35mm)

I can’t wait to finally share this film with you, and to share more about what a life changing experience making it has been, both for myself and for the incredible composer Ben Doherty, who has crafted nothing short of magic for this project.

Check out my review of Alessio Cappelletti’s Whiteness by clicking the link in my bio.

Whiteness consists of multiple short films meant to depict the continued intensity of, well…whiteness in the world. Racist animated cartoons, military propaganda, and more converge to create something. [more...]
