‼️PULL UP WED. 5/27 AT 5pm‼️

The City Council will be discussing its agreement with Stronghold Power.

While third party legal review of the City’s agreement with Stronghold Power is needed to ultimately identify how its problematic and must be terminated, the review that the city is proposing to do for $10k - $25k IS NOT THAT. The City only wants to review the agreement to ensure it’s “reasonable.” WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THAT.

Calipatria, Brawley, and Imperial have taken action to stop data center development in their cities.

@officialcityofcoachella must drop the agreement NOW.
Ordinance to permanently ban data centers in Coachella NOW❕❕❕

This week, “Name Tag” made its premiere at the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) at the Palm Springs Cultural Center—and I had the surreal experience of seeing my words come to life on the big screen… and seeing myself on it too.

What started as a deeply personal poem during a time of uncertainty grew into something I never could have imagined. I never anticipated Name Tag to live this life, but seeing how far those words have come—and by extension, my own personal journey—has been truly a precious experience.

I am beyond blessed to have such a wonderful network of support. Thank you to AmDocs for elevating local voices on the film festival circuit, to those who believed in the message, and who continue to encourage me to keep creating.

It was also incredibly special to be interviewed by KESQ News Channel 3—by my colleague Timothy Foster—and to share this experience from both sides of the camera.

I’m ever-grateful to work alongside visionary director Kent Kay in bringing this story to life through faith in the verses, and to my husband Kurt Schawacker who helped make this project possible in such a short time. What began as a quiet moment on the page became something shared, and that means everything to the girl who “wished she had a name tag so people could understand where she’s at in terms of who she wants to be.”

And now they do.

There are so many more adventures in film I want to have and stories I want to tell… one page at a time.

The ECV Young Feminist Forum event is open to all ECV Youth. We hope this will be a space filled with learning, organizing, and community-building with like-minded youth. The workshop will provide students a chance to step back from day-to-day activism and recognize that they’re part of a community working for gender equity and coming together for the betterment of their community. #bloomingtogether 🌸🌷🌼
