"Have you heard? Vegetables are chic now. Think Loewe’s tomato clutch, or Elizabeth McGovern relaxing in a field of cabbages for Burberry. And you’re likely to spot at least one customer wearing an “allotment-core” chore jacket on your next trip to a bougie grocer. Chefs, though not typically the most fashion-conscious, are way ahead of us: at some of the country’s best restaurants, they are wowing cynical diners with elegant, delicious crudité plates, and reframing the notion of luxury ingredients in the process"

I wrote for @britishvogue on why crudités are all the rage at top restaurants like @osiprestaurant @pyro.restaurant @inverrestaurant @rosina.restaurant @margaretscambridge and @timberyard10.

Thanks to @merlin_johnson @yiannismexis and @twoboatsatrainandabus for speaking to me.

We’re so excited to launch our new guest chef series Nighthawks with @yiannismexis of @pyro.restaurant on Monday 2 November for an evening of fire-led cooking, bold flavours and plenty of Hellenic touches.

Drawing on memories of Greece and experience in Michelin-starred kitchens including Elystan Street, The Ledbury and HIDE, Yiannis will be bringing five exclusive à la carte specials to complement our menu on the night.

Expect Pyro’s signature spanakopita pastel de nata, sea bream with green olives & caper leaves, Iberico pork skewers, Cornish lobster with blood orange avgolemono, and Dorset lamb with lamb fat flatbreads & smoked anchovy yoghurt.

One night only. Monday 2 November.

Booking is essential. Reserve your table via the link in bio.

“Fully booked” is a lie. 🤫

Ten of London’s hardest tables have prime seats open right now — five for tonight, five for tomorrow night.

Tonight: The French House for FOUR at 6, Straker’s at 6:15, Trullo at 6:30, Café Clement at 7:45 — a prime Friday deuce at the riverside brasserie everyone’s whispering about — and Pyro at 8:15. 🔥

Tomorrow night: THE RIVER CAFÉ — on a Saturday, for SIX, at 6pm. Yes, really. Then Vesper at 7, Rochelle Canteen at 7:30, The Barbary’s counter at 8, and Chez Rose for SIX at 8:30. ⚡

One more thing: we’re taking a two-week breather from posting — back soon with bigger, better things. But the app doesn’t take breaks. Live Tables keeps watching every door in London 24/7 while we’re gone, so download it now and let it catch the next River Café for you. 📲

🇬🇷✨ You don’t always need a flight to Greece… sometimes you just need a table at PYRO in London. 🔥

I discovered Pyro in London Bridge and honestly… for a few hours, it felt like I’d left London completely. The atmosphere, the flavours, the fire-cooked food and that laid-back Greek taverna feeling make you feel like you’ve been transported somewhere on the Mediterranean. 🌊☀️

And the FOOD… 🤌🏼

The dips with that incredible potato pita/bread were a serious highlight — warm, fluffy, fire-kissed and basically made for scooping up every last bit. The halloumi was so good, and the crispy layered potatoes? 🔥🥔 You’ll see exactly what I’m talking about when you try them.

What I loved most is that Pyro isn’t trying to be a traditional Greek restaurant. It takes those familiar Greek flavours and gives them a modern, fire-led twist, with Greek inspiration running through everything from the food to the cocktails and atmosphere.

It’s one of those places where you go for dinner and somehow feel like you’ve had a mini holiday. 🇬🇷✨

📍 PYRO, London Bridge
🍽️ Modern Greek | Open-fire cooking | Mediterranean vibes
🔥 Definitely one to add to your London food list.

Save this for your next London food adventure 👀🇬🇷

One of those spots you NEED to visit before summer is officially over 🥹

We booked Baraki @baraki.pyro, @pyro.restaurant ‘s super cute outdoor terrace, and genuinely forgot we were in London for a second.

What we ordered:
🫓 Trio of dips + potato pita — a MUST
🦪 Bloody Mary Maldon oysters
🐟 Coal seared swordfish & grapefruit
🧀 BBQ halloumi, Greek honey & pistachio
🦑 Scorched cuttlefish & tarama
🍤 Prawn saganaki & smoked mizithra

Everything is chargrilled, smoky and packed with flavour. Honestly some of the best Mykonos-style Greek food I’ve had in London 🇬🇷 literally feels like Greece without leaving london⭐️ Can’t wait to go back for the actual dining experience at Pyro main dining area! Also the bill was surprisingly not as spenny!

📍 53b Southwark St, London SE1 1RU, United Kingdom

Save this for your next date night before terrace season disappears ☀️

at @pyro.restaurant cos why go to Mykonos, when Mykonos can come to you.

Well, ‘you’ in that you’re @flatironsquareuk in the shadow of the Shard but it’s hella closer and the stuff that chef @yiannismexis is doing here is arguably more delicious.

Guy’s pedigree is no joke and neither is the stuff coming off this pass.

London is spoiled for MODERN GREEK restaurants at the moment and add this one to the list but, while we’re at it…
