A weekend read for policy wonks @caninereview :
Rescue Retail Thrives

At North Shore Animal League, dogs arrive by the truck from @nationalmilldogrescue (puppy mill), so why does new legislation purporting to fight mills only target actual retail?

Gov. Hochul is touting a new law banning sale of dogs in stores as a victory in war on puppy wills but NY-based rescue and shelter North Shore Animal League -- "the world's largest" -- has dogs arriving from National Mill (yup, puppy mill) by the truckload on a frequent and recurring basis.

You can ride shotgun with me any day of the week, handsome ♥️🙋🏼‍♀️

Check out @mrbonesandco for this handsome hunk’s story and consider donating for his recovery. I’m so humbled and thankful to have the opportunity to be of service in a small way in the lifesaving work of MBC. Big thanks to David from @amcny who helped me with TRAP in the bitterly cold evening and showed this champ some love.

After #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday, it’s time for #GivingTuesday. Even in a year that has been so tough on so many- getting out of our own heads and thinking of others is ever more important.

Here are some noble causes/charities to consider:
✨Brooklyn Community Foundation - @BklynFoundation - the foundation launched a Covid-19 Response Fund which prioritized support for nonprofits led by and serving Black, indigenous, and other people of color. You can see detailed reports of their impactful work on their page.
✨BAM - @BAM_Brooklyn - this incredible Brooklyn institution needs our support as the arts have been especially hard hit during Covid-19.
✨North Brooklyn Angels- @NorthBrooklynAngels - delivering meals to neighbors in need. This volunteer-based non-profit delivers hot meals in their Angelmobile - they got hundreds of families their Thanksgiving meal and literally made ALL the difference!
✨The Humane Society- @humanesociety - saving precious animal lives from abuse and neglect. Generous donors are tripling your donation’s impact for this Giving Tuesday Challenge.
✨PETA-@PETA- one of the most influential animal rights organizations that has spearheaded shocking investigations into animal abuse and has single-handedly forced powerful companies to pledge to ending animal suffering.
Farm Sanctuary - @FarmSanctuary -rescue, education, and advocacy for farm animals. Your impact will be doubled this Giving Tuesday thanks to the generosity of @exploreorg
✨Last but dearest to my heart is @MrBonesandCo - the remarkable dog rescue that I support with my whole being because of my dear friend Elli who literally changed my life but that’s a whole other story. MBC has saved hundreds of beautiful sould through the years but more importantly, they’ve built a community of badass humans who believe that #RescueIstheNewBlack. Currently in their #OneLuckyPup program are the adorable bonded pair of Bentley and Hondo who need help to find a new loving home.

Since I can’t list all of the incredible causes that deserve our love (and 💰!), here are a few honorary mentions @stjude , @memorialsloankettering , @animalhaven , @badassbrooklyn , @animalleague and @reboundhounds ♥️

My life would be so incomplete without these two darling creatures.

If you don’t have a dog, adopt one - your life will be 1000000 gazillion times better. I’m tagging a bunch of amazing dog rescues here if you don’t know where to find your fur baby.

⁣Today was supposed to be 8th annual @RescueTheRunway fundraiser/party hosted by @MrBonesAndCo and I was so excited and looking forward to smooching as many dogs as I could get my hands on. Rescue The Runway is an interactive opportunity to meet and greet beautiful dogs walked on the runway by hometown heroes and it is also Mr Bones’ largest fundraiser to support its’ lifesaving work. Their tag line expresses the mission the best - Rescue Is the New Black.⠀
⠀
⠀
Pictured here is the handsome @slickbowie and over the years I’ve got to meet - and kiss- celebs like the unforgettable (rest in paradise 🌈 ) Chloe Kardoggian @the_kardoggians and the handsome @sometimescarl ❤❤❤⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
Even though the event has been postponed I’ll support their mission today with a donation as even though the event has been postponed- the work never ends. #RescueIsTheNewBlack

Pawzitively Furbulous had the pleasure of taking care of Simba while his foster mom worked. Simba@Mr.bonesandco.is a Hurricane Dorian survivor, looking for his furever home. He’s off to boarding school today and great training. ❤️🐶 He can be adopted through Mr. Bones & Co. and Rescue The Runway Rescue.
